Leah Messer & Corey Simms’ Daughter Still Walking, Not Needing Wheelchair: ‘Teen Mom 2’ Health Update

Leah Messer and Corey Simms’ daughter, 6-year-old Ali, was diagnosed with a rare form of muscular dystrophy years ago. While she will likely be restricted to a wheelchair as she ages, the Teen Mom 2 kid is on her feet for now.

As fans have seen on Teen Mom 2, Ali’s health has been a hot topic for years and so has her use of a wheelchair. During one particular season, Leah Messer and Simms, her first husband, were seen feuding over his failure to get Ali a wheelchair through his insurance, but a short time later, Ali got her chair. However, according to a new report, she only uses the device for long distances — even though she reportedly falls at least five time each day due to her weakening muscles.

“Ali has her wheelchair available, but she only uses it for long distances,” a Simms insider told Radar Online on March 18. “She’s usually on her feet.”

In addition to Ali’s muscular dystrophy, Leah Messer’s young child is also suffering from eye problems stemming from a small optic nerve, and is regularly seen wearing tinted eyeglasses.

“Ali wears glasses as a form of protection, to help out with her optic nerve,” the insider explains. “Her eye twitches at times, but she sees fine.”

Meanwhile, Ali’s twin, Aleeah Grace, is said to be supportive of her sister’s differences.

“Gracie understands what’s going on, but she doesn’t talk about it or treat her sister any differently,” the source explained.

Leah Messer and Simms were married for just months when they parted ways in 2011 following Leah Messer’s cheating confession. From there, Leah Messer went on to marry Jeremy Calvert in 2012, and in 2013, their first child, daughter Adalynn Faith, was born. Then, in late 2014, following allegations of cheating shared by Calvert on Twitter, he and Leah Messer parted ways.

Since her second divorce, Leah Messer has been linked to T.R. Dues, but despite their relationship having reportedly started in the spring of last year, they have never actually confirmed their romance. Months ago, reports of an alleged reunion with Calvert hit the web.

A short time later, a source vehemently denied any such thing.

“There’s no way in hell Jeremy wants to be back with [Leah Messer],” a source told the Ashley’s Reality Roundup earlier this year. “They rarely text, and when they do it’s only about Addie. As far as them calling each other ‘baby’ and all that, it’s completely untrue.”

Instead, Calvert was dating, and continues to date, Brooke Wehr.

“They split for a little while but are back together right now and going strong,” the source said. “Brooke is really different from Leah and Jeremy is really happy with her. They have a lot of fun together… They’re in no rush to live together or anything like that. They both have daughters, so they want to make sure that they are going to last before they move in together and get the kids involved.”

As for Dues, the outlet revealed that despite a reported split between him and Leah Messer, the couple was still dating, much to Calvert’s dismay. While it is unclear why, the two men reportedly do not get along.
