‘Dancing With the Stars’ Spoilers: Premiere Night Songs And Dances Revealed

Dancing with the Stars is set to premiere its 22nd (!) season next week, and it already looks like it’s going to be a good one. The new Dancing with the Stars cast features several familiar celeb and sports names, and not as many unknown reality stars or social media personalities as in past seasons. Plus, the premiere night soundtrack is off the hook.

For the premiere week of Dancing with the Stars, the celebrity couples will perform either a cha cha, fox trot, jive, tango, or quickstep, according to TV Guide. While no contestants will go home in the first week, the initial premiere night dances instantly determine who will be this season’s frontrunners — and, don’t forget, the judges will be watching (and critiquing), too.

Based on the unveiled set list, the Dancing with the Stars cast will be all over the musical spectrum for the premiere. In addition to newer songs like “In the Night” by The Weeknd (Mischa Barton and her pro partner Artem Chigvintsev will Tango to the hit); Demi Lovato’s “Confident” (Fuller House star Jodie Sweetin and Keo Motsepe will also Tango); and DNCE’s club hit “Cake By the Ocean” (model Nyle DiMarco and Peta Murgatroyd will cha cha to it), old classics will fill the ballroom.

Pro dancer Karina Smirnoff is finally back on the Dancing with the Stars cast, and she’ll foxtrot with NFL star Doug Flutie to Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline.” Donald Trump’s ex-wife Marla Maples will quickstep to a classic with partner Tony Dovolani; the duo’s song of choice is “Sparkling Diamonds” from the Moulin Rouge soundtrack. And Good Morning America weather announcer Ginger Zee and former DWTS champ Val Chmerkovskiy will also take on a famous musical with a jive to the song “Move” from Dreamgirls.

Two Dancing with the Stars premiere night performances that will definitely have people talking is sitcom star Kim Fields and Sasha Farber’s cha cha to “Sax” by Fleur East, and UFC fighter Paige VanZant and Mark Ballas, who will fox trot to the tune “Ain’t Got Far To Go” by Jess Glynne.

Songs by Pitbull, Flo Rida, Boys II Men, and Bruno Mars will round out the Dancing with the Stars premiere. Antonio Brown and Sharna Burgess will do the quickstep to “Bad Man”; Von Miller and Witney Carson will fox trot to “My House”; Wanya Morris and Lindsay Arnold will cha cha to “Motownphilly” (an appropriate choice for the Boys II Men alum); and Geraldo Rivera and Edyta Sliwinska also bring us that dance style to the song “Treasure.”

As for some of the surprising names on the Dancing with the Stars cast list, it sounds like it was just the right timing for ABC to land well-known stars like Kim Fields (The Facts of Life, Real Housewives of Atlanta) and Mischa Barton (The O.C.). Fields told E! News that everything sort of just aligned for her to join DWTS this season.

“They invited me to the party and my dance card wasn’t quite full just yet, pardon the pun. It was just the right time, you know? The right time in my career. I’m doing new things, spreading my wings in a lot of different waters. This is another wonderful step in that direction.”

In addition, Barton told Us Weekly she was ready to try something new and “push” herself.

Dancing with the Stars Season 22 will premiere Monday, March 21 at 8/7c on ABC.
