Las Vegas Illusionist Fired After Child Porn Arrest

Jan Rouven, the illusionist who has been headlining at the Tropicana, has been promptly fired after being arrested for child pornography. Rouven is still behind bars after police found substantial amounts of child porn pics and videos on Rouven’s computer. The Tropicana in Las Vegas is moving as fast as they can to distance themselves from Rouven.

According to the Inquisitr, this has been a week for child pornography news, as former Subway spokesman Jared Fogle was beaten in prison and has had a suit filed against him by one of his child porn victims. Jared Fogle, who was also convicted of being a child molester and making child porn, will spend the next 15 years in prison for his crimes that are on a federal level.

TMZ is reporting that Las Vegas illusionist Jan Rouven is being held in a Vegas jail after over 250 images of men involved in sex acts with children under age 5. Rouven is being charged with viewing, sharing, and trading in these images.

Rouven is being held without bail, as the judge views him as a flight risk, as he is not local to Las Vegas. The Tropicana is doing its best to distance themselves from Rouven, saying that he was an independent contractor and not an employee.

The Daily Mail says that Rouven was in possession of child pornography with very young boys. The German-born Rouven has worked around the world but had an established show in Las Vegas. Tropicana has canceled the show “The New Illusions.”

Rouven had several hundred pictures and over three thousand videos of adult men engaged in sex acts with toddlers. The investigation in Las Vegas into Rouven by the FBI started in August and was carried out by an undercover FBI agent who infiltrated Rouven’s child porn sharing group. Arrests were made this week.

The child porn ring that Rouven participated in started being raided in January when the FBI started seizing computers. The FBI, along with the Las Vegas police, seized Rouven’s computers and an external hard drive from his Las Vegas home.

The complaint alleges that when seized, the FBI saw that Rouven was in possession of a lot of serious child porn images and videos of young children being abused.

Rouven, whose real name is Jan Rouven Fuechtener, broke down in tears at a detention center hearing on Wednesday. The judge in Las Vegas ordered Rouven held without bail, as he is a risk to the community and has a support base in Germany, where she fears he will flee.

Rouven has been an illusionist for 10 years and is considered Germany’s most successful illusionist. The Tropicana fired Rouven quickly and claims they will honor the tickets when a new illusionist is in place.

“Following the news of his arrest we took immediate steps to sever ties to him and his production company.”

Anyone with tickets who wants a refund can contact the Tropicana in Las Vegas for a prompt refund.

Does it seem like there has been an increase in child pornography lately, or is more making the news? Do you think Jan Rouven will be convicted in his child porn ring?
