Pierrick Fedrigo wins Tour de France stage 9

Pierrick Fédrigo has become the third French stage winner in the 2009 Tour de France, winning stage 9 over Italian Franco Pellizotti after the pair joined in a breakaway that last almost all of the stage.

Fédrigo, of the BBox Bouygues Telecom team, beat Pellizotti of the Liquigas team for his second win of the Tour de France in the stage from Saint-Gaudens to Tarbes, the pair finishing 34 second in front of the chasing peloton.

Rinaldo Nocentini goes into the first rest day of the Tour de France still wearing the yellow jersey after the second stage in a row where the general classifictions were not changed at all as the peloton stayed together over the line.

The stage was the third and last through the Pyrenees, including the Col d’Aspin and Col du Tourmalet climbs half way through the day.
