Fans can watch the Providence vs. USC matchup live online and see which team can advance in the Big Dance.
The NCAA Tournament matchup between the No. 8 Trojans and No. 9 Friars kicks off at 9:50 p.m. on Thursday, with both looking for a chance to take on No. 1 North Carolina. The game will be broadcast on TBS and also available online (link to streaming video and post-game press conference video can be found below).
For the Trojans, the game is a chance to win their first tournament game in five years.
“This was our goal, ultimately, coming into the season,” guard Julian Jacobs told ESPN. “A lot of other spectators thought that we were maybe a year away, but we knew we had the talent. It was just a matter of executing and winning games.”
The Trojans had their first 20-win season since 2008-09, which is the last time they won a tournament game. It was quite a turnaround from the previous two years, when USC had 20-loss seasons.
“Honestly, it was miserable the first two years,” Jacobs said. “I’d never been a part of a team that was the laughingstock of a conference like we were our first two years. But I think the coaching staff as a whole did a really good job of reiterating that it’s not always going to be like this.”

Fans who watch the Providence vs. USC game live online will see if the Trojans can handle last year’s Big East Conference player of the year, Kris Dunn.
As the Los Angeles Times pointed out, the Friars are deep beyond just Dunn.
“The Trojans are among the most balanced teams in the tournament. Five players average in double figures, and a sixth is at 9.8 points a game.
“‘No one’s a star,’ Dunn said. ‘But they all play like they are.’
“In crunch time, USC typically relies on its point guards, Jacobs and Jordan McLaughlin. In the Trojans’ last game, a loss to Utah in the Pac-12 Conference tournament quarterfinals, the pair distributed less and attacked the rim with conviction.”
Fans who watch live online will see what’s expected to be one of the most evenly matched and exciting games of the tournament. As the OC Register‘s Ryan Kartje wrote, the game could end up being a first-round classic.
“This could prove to be one of the more competitive games of the NCAA Tournament’s first round. While USC brings balance to the table, Providence will boast the two best players on the court, and if Bentil and Dunn can get in rhythm early, the Trojans might have a difficult time containing them,” Kartje wrote. “Pace and defense are crucial in this one, as USC tries to speed things up and steal easy baskets. But things haven’t been going all that smoothly for the Trojans over the past month, and Providence has the defense to lock down its shooters on the outside. Expect this to go down to the wire.”

While this matchup looks to be a great one, there isn’t much historical precedence to go on. This will be the first matchup between USC and Providence in more than 40 years.
