WWE News: Shane McMahon Botches Promo On ‘RAW,’ Makes Fun Of Himself

There have been rumors floating around that Shane McMahon has been struggling with his promos since his return, and that Vince McMahon has actually covered for him in their segments together. Shane’s struggles haven’t been completely obvious to the viewing audience since his return. Well, up until this past Monday night that is.

Monday’s RAW was built around the closing segment, which saw Shane McMahon, Vince McMahon, and The Undertaker in the ring together for the first time since the Shane vs. Undertaker match was made official for WrestleMania 32.

In the segment, Shane let Undertaker know how he was going to beat him at AT&T Stadium on April 3, but he ended up botching his opening line.

Shane probably meant to say, “you’re gonna try to hit me, and you’re gonna miss.” But instead he said, “you’re gonna hit me, and I’m gonna miss.” Shane then tried to cover up for his mistake, but the crowd clearly picked up on it, and they loudly groaned. You can check out the clip below.

Shane’s obvious botch didn’t end up hurting the segment, as the crowd was fully behind him at the end of the segment. But it did prove that the rumors of him having a difficult time with his promos are, in fact, true.

Most WWE stars would try to ignore or run from the fact that they screwed up a promo, but Shane actually has a sense of humor about it, as he tweeted out that he needs to re-think his “you’re gonna hit me, and I’m gonna miss” strategy.

Shane also tweeted out that he’s been working on “a few surprises” with Brazilian jiu-jitsu master Renzo Gracie. So, it’s likely that Shane O’Mac will end up showcasing some BJJ in his Hell in a Cell match against The Undertaker.

BJJ is something that Undertaker himself has used during his matches for quite some time now. One of his signature moves, “Hell’s Gate,” is a BJJ move known as the Gogoplata. Also, “The Phenom” is a huge fan of mixed martial arts, so it’s safe to assume that he’ll be willing to get on the ground and have a bit of a grappling exchange with Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 32.

Shane has also let it be known that he’s training with Phil Nurse, who was previously former UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre’s Muay Thai coach, which is why we saw Shane use the Thai clinch when he was fighting off the security guards several weeks ago on RAW.

There’s still some uncertainty surrounding the finish of the Shane vs. Undertaker match. Some are thinking that Undertaker will just win clean, while others are suggesting that “The Phenom” will Tombstone Shane, then, instead of covering him, he’ll lay down, and pull Shane on top of him, thus showing that he was the real winner of the match, but he was willing to “take a bullet” for the betterment of the company.

Traditionally at WrestleMania, the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match is the main event of the show. But there’s been some talk of having Shane McMahon vs. Undertaker go on last. If it does, it would be one of the few times a non-title match has ended up being the main event of WWE’s biggest show of the year.

Also, if it goes on last, that could be a good indication that Shane McMahon is going to win the match, as WWE typically likes to give the fans a happy ending at WrestleMania.
