Philly ‘Game Of Thrones’ Fans Were Unimpressed With ‘The Dance Of Dragons’

There’s so many characters to love (and hate) on Game of Thrones but for most fans Daenerys’ dragons have always held a special place in their hearts. From the time they were just little eggs to the day they finally hatched and Dany become the Mother of Dragons, the dragons have become an integral part of Game of Thrones.

Therefore it wasn’t that surprising when dragons were used for the DVD promotion of Game of Thrones season 5. “The Dance of Dragons” DVD promotion has already made stops in New York and Los Angeles but when it reached Philadelphia last night fans were less than impressed.

According to Philly.com, hundreds of people went to Dilworth Park for the Game of Thrones promotional event. The area was made to look like a crash site for the “3D animated dragon projection,” according to the promotional advertisements.

Around 8 p.m. on Wednesday the projections began and they were nothing like what people expected. The projects showed images of a dragon up on the sides of buildings and it seems people were expecting the dragons to look more 3D, flying around like they do on the show, not projected images.

Filled with disappointment and even some anger, the die hard Game of Thrones fans began to boo at the projections.

According to some fans not only were the dragons not what they were expecting, but the show didn’t have sound either, furthering people’s anger.

Still, other fans were pleased with the Game of Thrones event and truly enjoyed seeing the dragons in all their fire breathing glory.

“The Dance of Dragons” promotional tour will continue in San Francisco today. Hopefully, the dragons will receive a better reception there than they did in Philly.

If not, fans can at least expect to see more of their favorite dragons in the new Game of Thrones season. Based on the season 6 trailer of Game of Thrones at least one dragon will be making an appearance. Even so, with Danerys being taken, Drogon still on the loose, and the other two dragons still locked up, who knows how big of a role the dragons will really play in season 6.

Another thing that’s still very unclear about the new Game of Thrones season? Jon Snow’s death. Is he dead dead? Will he come back to life? Are the Game of Thrones producers just psyching fans out and Jon Snow actually survived the stabbing and we’ve all been worried about nothing?

With new spoilers and hints coming out almost every day, it’s hard to know what to believe. Fans will probably have to wait until the premiere of the new season to finally get answers, especially now that the show has surpassed the Game of Thrones books.

The new season of Game of Thrones will premiere on April 24 on HBO and HBO Now, and fans can now purchase the fifth season on DVD and Blu-ray.
