‘Donnie Loves Jenny’ Season 3 Premiere: Motorcycle Woes, Name Changing, And Birthday Surprises

Donnie Wahlberg and Jenny McCarthy are now living in St. Charles, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, and they are settling into their new life together. Their wedded bliss has been followed in their A&E reality show, Donnie Loves Jenny, on Wednesdays, and they are now beginning Season 3.

The reality couple, who were wed in 2014, stopped by Good Morning America this week to talk about living in the Chicago suburbs and the new season of their show. The Blue Bloods star spilled a little bit on what to expect as they get used to small town life.

“I’m a big city boy from Boston so it’s a whole different lifestyle for us and, you know, all the different things we run into in the small town really create a lot of funny moments for us.”

Those funny moments were depicted in the first episode of Season 3. Donnie loves motorcycles, and Jenny loves guys who ride them. It seems like a match made in Heaven, right? Not at first, as Jenny admitted that she was a little fearful of them. She did change her tune just a little after Donnie drags her into a Harley-Davidson store.

The New Kids on the Block singer was anxious to get his motorcycle license and drove straight to the DMV. Jenny compromised and told him that if he passed the written test, then he could get one. That was easier said than done. Donnie had to take the written test a couple of times before he passed, but that was the easy part. The driving test was more difficult than he thought. He failed twice, but the third time was a charm. He finally went home with his motorcycle license.

Little did he know that his wife was there at the same time getting her driver’s license. She decided to have her married name put on it to surprise her husband. Jenny had talked it over with her sister and decided that changing her name to Wahlberg would be a good thing, despite the fact that Jojo thought that she worked too hard to get her name out there.

After Jenny showed him her license, Mr. Wahlberg was very happy that she chose to have the name of Jennifer McCarthy-Wahlberg on it.

“To actually see her name and my name together her license and know that she’s taken on my name…my wife who worked just as hard to make her name mean something in the world…it adds such another level of pride to me.”

He then told her that he changed his mind on getting a motorcycle since she wasn’t too keen on the idea. However, it was too late. Jenny presented him with the one he loved at the shop. All is well in the Wahlberg home. The couple was also on The Wendy Williams Show on Thursday, according to the Chicago Tribune, where she had officially announced her name change as well.

The second episode of Donnie Loves Jenny was all about Donnie’s birthday. Jenny was in the process of preparing the celebration, but her hubby doesn’t really like surprises much. He can’t even get Evan to spill the secret.

Speaking of Evan, he is now a teenager and doesn’t want his mom publicly hugging on him now. Donnie gets it since he has raised two sons, but Jenny is having a hard time getting used to it.

Jenny confesses that she is cursed, but it’s not what you think. She is cursed by her time of the month, and her time of the month always seems to happen at the wrong time of the month. She confessed that it happened on prom night, her wedding night, and now on Donnie’s birthday.

This means only one thing; shopping for tampons. They both head to the local pharmacy to purchase some. Well, Donnie does anyway. How come Jenny doesn’t do it herself? Since she is somewhat famous, she said that she thinks that buying her own tampons will be all over the news. She won’t have to worry about that now that her husband is the one who is all in the news.

Donnie took the easy way out and asked a female shopper which would be the best “big and super” one on the shelf. He couldn’t sweet talk the lady into purchasing them for him, so after grabbing a few other items off the shelf as to not embarrass himself too much, it was a success. He was so proud that he announced to whoever would listen that he bought his wife her tampons.

Then came the birthday surprise, even though Donnie said that he hates surprises. But this one was a good one. Jenny booked a tour on a small riverboat complete with a few family and friends, the best beef sandwiches in Chicago, and even a small fire mishap. Jenny pointed out her misfortunes of the day.

“It’s Donnie’s birthday, I got my period, and I am on fire.”

Despite all of that, the birthday surprise was a definite success. Evan’s birthday card may have been the best part of his celebration. In it, Evan wrote that he was the best stepfather. Donnie said that he was so touched by it.
