Kristin Cavallari Drops ‘Laguna Beach’ Bombshell For Lauren Conrad And Stephen Colletti Shippers

Watch out everyone — Kristin Cavallari is coming clean! It’s been over a decade since Kristin got her start on MTV‘s Laguna Beach, and while many of the former cast members have already said that much of happened on the show wasn’t real, Kristin says her relationship with Stephen Colletti was in fact, the real deal.

According to Fox News, Kristin’s new book, Balancing in Heels: My Journey to Health, Happiness, and Making It All Work, she makes it clear that not everything was fake.

“What Stephen and I had together was real, and that’s what made me get through the producers’ attempt at manipulating us… We talked about everything the entire time. When we saw each episode, it was clear to us what was real and what was fake… but that still didn’t make it easy.”

E! News notes that Kristin first started dating Stephen during her sophomore year in high school with Laguna Beach starting its filming in her junior year. Producers of the show instantly zeroed in on a love triangle between Kristin, Stephen, and Conrad.

“We loved hard and fought hard. My relationship with Stephen went from our own high school romance to the fodder of a hugely successful television show.” Kristin’s states. She goes on to say in her tell-all book that there was a lot of pressure for her and Stephen as their relationship was on full display across the country for anyone tuning into the MTV reality show. She also writes that the producers manipulated the relationship and had a bigger effect on it than anyone else.

She says that one of the most hurtful things was when the producers pressured Stephen into hanging out with Lauren Conrad, another girl from the show, while Kristin and Stephen were still dating.

“It certainly provided some juicy conflicts, but it also affected me deeply… I felt threatened. On one side, it seemed like the producers were trying to break us up, which was intimidating. On the other side, I was worried that my relationship with Stephen was becoming less stable, even though I knew if we hadn’t been on television, he wouldn’t have been spending time with another girl.”

Us Weekly reveals that while Kristin Cavallari was largely viewed as a villain on the show, it was the producers’ manipulation that caused her to be so angry on the show.

“Because of all this, I did the only thing I knew how to do: put up a wall,” she states. “That made it look like I didn’t care about anyone but myself. But Stephen was the most important thing in my life, and there was nothing I cared about more. I hated fighting with him on camera because it felt like I was airing all our dirty laundry…”

She also writes that to some viewers she was a confident high school student while others considered her a mean girl. But neither of those viewpoints displayed her true self, which she writes is “a sarcastic, goofy girl who just wanted to have fun.”

Stepping away from Laguna Beach, Kristin is now happily married to NFL star Jay Cutler. But the road to becoming a happily married wife and mom of three definitely was harder after Laguna Beach.

“I think always having my guard up for those couple of years filming made me reluctant to trust men.”

She recalls that dating men before meeting Cutler wasn’t something to brag about. From being cheated on to being used for fame she shared that she could narrow her dating failures to one thing: a lack of self-confidence.

Lauren Conrad went on to star in The Hills, which Kristin later joined, again as a villain. Stephen Colletti starred on the last few seasons on One Tree Hill.

Kristin is currently focused on raising her three kids with Cutler. Her book is also currently on book shelves.
