Miley Cyrus Wants A ‘Rainbow Wedding’ To Show Support For LGBTQ Community And Gender Fluid Movement

Miley Cyrus is one of many celebrities who have been quite vocal in supporting the LGBTQ community and the gender fluid movement. The goal of these movements is to promote the social acceptance of people who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, or who don’t identify as either male or female. Most of the people belonging to these communities tend to lead a double life like that of Hannah Montana, a Disney Channel character played by Miley. This is because they live in a society that doesn’t fully accept them with respect and sensitivity. There are some social challenges that are specific to these people, and concealing their sexual orientation can make their life very stressful.

More importantly, it is important for families of people in the LGBTQ community to accept them, as it helps to build their self-esteem and overall emotional health. Many people who identify as LGTBQ, especially young adults, find it difficult to come out to their parents, as it is an emotional process that can leave the person feeling exposed, with no real idea of how their family and friends are likely to react.

Recently, Miley Cyrus was moved to tears after watching an emotional story of a young Japanese man who came out to his mother. The story was featured in the Japan episode of Ellen Page’s Gaycation, a television series which explores LGBTQ cultures around the world. According to Digital Spy, Miley commended Ellen’s efforts.

“My heart breaks but is melded back together with hope and optimism for family acceptance.”

Miley Cyrus was deeply moved after witnessing the experiences and listening to the stories of struggle and triumph that featured on the show. In fact, Miley wants to harness the power of her celebrity status by promoting the Rainbow Movement, an LGBTQ movement which expresses the multiplicity of the people involved in the crusade. Miley has been known to organize backyard concerts that feature transgender punk pioneers and lesbian rock artists. Her international concerts give her a platform to talk openly about advocating LGBTQ rights.

Ellen Page later thanked Miley Cyrus via Instagram for her support.

“Thank you @mileycyrus for supporting #gaycation and for all the work you do to help the LGBTQ community”

According to Miley Cyrus, it is unacceptable to persecute and ostracize young people on the basis of their sexual orientation. The “Wrecking Ball” star identifies closely with the confusion that arises when people are strictly identified on the basis of their gender.

Bustle reported on an earlier interview with Out Magazine, in which Miley said, “Being a girl isn’t what I hate, it’s the box that I get put into.”

She confessed that she didn’t really want to identify at all when she was growing up.

Miley Cyrus’s colorful personality and her straightforward approach are reminiscent of hippies in the 1960s, who created their own counterculture and who demanded reforms on issues such as gay rights. Incidentally, the roles that she is being offered appear to be the true reflection of her personality and the social ethos that she represents. People reported that Miley has been cast in Woody Allen’s television series, which is set in the 60s era. Miley will be seen sporting a 60s look in the show.

In fact, photos taken on set show her wearing a red printed poncho with a rainbow fringe and dark green pants. And it seems that she even wants her marriage celebrations to have the 60’s non-conformist party theme. To add to that, she wants “everyone to get high” at her wedding, and she has apparently instructed the party planner to arrange a dessert buffet of marijuana edibles. She wants everyone to get high together to have an “outrageous” party. Ultimately, she wants her wedding to be like a colorful rainbow, the internationally-recognized symbol of the movement that she represents.
