Washington Dad Beat Infant To Death With Xbox Controller

A Washington dad is behind bars after he committed a horrifyingly violent crime against his own 8-month-old daughter. The New York Daily News reports that Ahmed Hussein Ibrahim has been sentenced to just 12 years of imprisonment for the crime of which he was convicted. The details surrounding this case are tragic and indicative of a deeply disturbed individual.

The Washington state man was reportedly high on drugs and intoxicated on alcohol at the time of the incident, which took place in November 2014. Court records indicate that Ibrahim told authorities that he had no recollection of what happened the night his 8-month-old daughter was savagely beaten to death. But he did indicate that he was responsible with at least one incriminating quote.

“My demons came out…The last thing I remember is that I put my baby to sleep and woke up to the nightmare.”

Ahmed Hussein Ibrahim was engrossed in playing the game Destiny at the time of the fatal incident, which may have led to what happened. He became enraged with the infant at some point and used an Xbox game controller to beat the helpless baby to death. When the infant’s mother arrived home, the Washington dad was passed out on the couch with the child he had slain. When he woke up, he did not try to call authorities, nor did he attempt to resuscitate his baby (though it would have been pointless). Instead, he tried to hide his daughter’s murdered body in the garbage.

Sadly, this is not the first time video game obsession has been at the center of child abuse, neglect, or murder incidents. In 2011, a Florida mom was sentenced to 50 years in prison after she murdered her own 3-month-old son. The reason for the ghastly murder? The infant was interrupting the Florida woman’s game of Farmville, which she was playing on Facebook. After she murdered her baby with her bare hands, she took a personality quiz on Facebook and published the results.

“Way to go, you crazy person. You are too much for any one person to handle, including yourself.”

In 2008, an Illinois couple were charged with first-degree murder after they let their 5-month-old baby sit in a car for eight days, leading to his death. He died from starvation and neglect while the Illinois parents were in their home playing video games. Needless to say, the couple lost custody of their other child, who was fortunately not harmed while her 5-month-old brother died alone in a car-seat over a span of eight days.

In 2014, a Korean couple reportedly let their infant die from neglect while they obsessively played an online game together. Ironically, the object of the game is to have and raise a virtual child. This case attracted a lot of attention, mostly due to the heavy element of irony which hovered over it. This case also drew a lot of social media attention to video game addiction.

As for the Washington dad in this most recent case, Ibrahim has been sentenced to 12 years of imprisonment, meaning he’ll be approximately 40-years-old when he’s released from prison. He’ll be young enough to start his life anew and maybe even father more children. Social media attention on this case is rife with confusion by the man’s prison sentence.
