Catherine Zeta-Jones And Michael Douglas Get Nostalgic: Couple Return To Proposal Spot

It looks like Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas are really cherishing their time together as a couple. The pair, who briefly split from August to November of 2013, rekindled the romance in their relationship, and have been stronger ever since.

Jones and Douglas are all smiles in a recent photo op. The two took a trip down memory lane by visiting the spot in Aspen, where Michael Douglas had proposed. The couple of 15 years looked happier than ever in the photo that Zeta-Jones shared with her Instagram followers.

16 years ago, this was the spot where my husband proposed.

The couple didn’t stay at that spot for two long. Going by Catherine’s photo the two cuddled up on ski lifts and enjoyed the snowy slopes for some ski time. Zeta-Jones captioned another picture, “Gotta love skiing in the sun.”

The last time we saw the glowing couple was at AARP’s 15th Annual Movies for Grownups Awards in February in Beverly Hills. When speaking about their marriage to People Magazine, Michael Douglas said that to maintain their health and marriage, it’s a “moment to moment” thing.

He continued, “Catherine reminds me, I like to say sometimes, we all make more efforts to strangers than we do to the people closest to us.”

During an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, the actor explained how important it was to make their marriage work.

“If both of you are willing you know to do it. It can’t be a one-way street. I’m crazy about her…I think every couple has their difficult times. The only problem is, as you well know, we’re all in the public eye and it tends to get a little more exposed than most. But we’re back, stronger than ever.”

Right after their reconciliation, Douglas said he was taking his wife for granted. During an interview with The Sun, he said that it’s okay if you make mistakes, but you have to learn from them. For the actor, he said he had a habit of taking the people closest to him for granted.

“When you are younger you care what other people think. And you take the person closest to you for granted. You waste a lot of energy on strangers to make a good impression. When you’re older you focus that energy on the people closest to you, on your family. And you’re courteous.”

It was rumored that their marriage was under stress due to Douglas’ throat cancer diagnosis, and Zeta-Jones’ struggles with bipolar. Now the actor has been cancer free for five years, while Zeta-Jones has checked into rehab twice to better understand her mental health issue.

As for his own health issues, Douglas told People Magazine in February that his wife has helped him heal. “I think love, without getting too corny, nourishing each other, working at relationships, good sustenance, good food, good kids, all kind of a combination.”

In addition to his wife, since he’s cancer free, Douglas said he’s been health conscious which means he’s watching out for himself. He explained being healthy is all about watching “how much you drink” and working on a regular diet.

The two have two children together, son Dylan Michael, 16, and daughter Carys Zeta, 13.
