On the same day Ryan vowed to watch his often outspoken mouth, Jones, 69,  decided to tell a large crowd of fans attending the Cowboys training camp that one of the things he looks forward to in 2012 is beating the New York Giants’ ass.

“Y’all should come to Cowboys Stadium and watch us beat the Giants’ asses,” Jones announced to fans during a ceremony to signal the opening of Cowboys’ training camp Monday, a festival-like event that featured a performance from the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, the National Anthem, and four skydivers landing on the 50-yard line carrying American flags and Cowboys banners.

While Jones undoubtedly meant to fire up his club for the upcoming 2012-2013 NFL season, the NY Daily reminds us all that the Giants are 3-0 all-time inside Cowboys Stadium, including a thrilling, 37-34 win last season that was sealed when Jason Pierre-Paul blocked a potential game-tying field goal.

The Giants also won the first-ever game played at Cowboys Stadium, 33-31 on Sept. 20, 2009.

As we all know, there has never been a shortage of juice in the Giants-Cowboys rivalry. Just last week Martellus Bennet, a former Cowboys tight end who recently signed to play with the Giants, had a few unkind words to say about his former team.

“I just want to kick those guys’ asses,” Bennett said last Thursday at the University at Albany. “That’s what it’s all about. We’re cool, but we ain’t that cool. I kind of got some ill feelings towards them overall.”

The Cowboys and Giants kick off the NFL season on Sept. 5 at MetLife Stadium, where the Cowboys’ 2011 season ended with a 31-14 loss in the de facto NFC East title game on New Year’s Day.

It isn’t until Oct. 28 that the Giants will have their opportunity to make good on Jones’ home field “ass-kicking” prediction.
