Darksiders III’s Fate Rests on Darksiders II’s shoulders

If you hope to see Vigil start work on Darksiders III, you may want to encourage your friends to pick up Darksiders II when it releases in a couple of weeks.

In an interview with Strategy Informer, Vigil lead developer Haydn Dalton said that whether or not Darksiders III gets made depends on how well the game performs at retail.

“Absolutely (the future of Darksiders is dependent on this this sells). We’ve got ideas for what we can do within the Darksiders universe, and it’s a huge universe. We’ve got ideas for different types of games as well, we’ve got a lot of mechanical things that are the boil and are ready to go depending on how this sells.”

Dalton added: “With the focus on DLC we want to sustain the amount of time people can spend playing Darksiders. Hopefully within that time we’ll find how it’s been received, how people are liking it, so a lot of our future as a games studio will be dependent on how this goes.”

Darksiders II is set to release in North America on August 14 for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. A European release will follow on August 21.
