‘The Walking Dead’ Spoilers: Will Glenn Be Killed By Negan In Season 6?

The Walking Dead spoilers for Season 6 are aplenty, but being halfway through Season 6, many of the spoilers that were making the rounds on the internet have either come to pass or been disregarded as rumors. However, one rumor is active, and it is potentially a big spoiler if you are a fan of the comic books.

Stop reading now if you are not one for spoilers.

Rumor has it that the character Negan from The Walking Dead comic books will be introduced in Season 6, specifically during the season finale. This rumor is based on the fact that Jeffrey Dean Morgan has already been cast to play the part.

The real Walking Dead spoiler is not so much Negan’s appearance on the show, but how he appears in the comic book.

Negan is the leader of a group of survivors called The Saviors.

According to Wetpaint, “The Saviors are a group of violent survivors based at a place called The Sanctuary.”

Negan is a nemesis in the vein of The Governor, only worse. Where The Governor at least made a pretense of being a just man and noble leader, Negan does not put up such a charade. He and his gang ruthlessly rule by fear.

One particular Walking Dead spoiler that stems from the comic book has Rick killing a few members of The Saviors when they jump him and try to rob him of supplies. Negan then meets up with Rick and his group and chooses one of them – eeny-meeny-miney-moe style – and then beats that member of the group to death with the barbed-wire-wrapped baseball bat he calls Lucille. The member of Rick’s group that gets chosen? Glenn.

Glenn is a beloved character on the show, even more so than Rick, and fans are not happy about the possibility of Glenn being killed off.

The possibility of this Walking Dead spoiler of Glenn’s possible demise proving true had fans on Twitter voicing their outrage and indignation.

However, the wrath of the fans may have been premature. Entertainment Weekly spoke with Steven Yeun, who plays Glenn on the show.

He addressed The Walking Dead spoiler, saying, “I know people are going to always go, ‘Negan kills Glenn in the comics,’ but rest assured that we don’t necessarily do what’s in the comics.”

For an actor who plays a character that seems likely to be killed off according to the source material, Yeun’s attitude is anything but worried in terms of his job security. Yeun expressed excitement for Negan’s arrival saying that it was going to be “[expletive] awesome.” This is not generally a statement that an actor would make knowing that it was going to be his last season on a hit show.

This Walking Dead spoiler comes even as Yeun doesn’t appear to be worried, so fans of Glenn can probably rest easy. Negan’s appearance is apparently not spelling the doom of Glenn yet, but what else might happen? Might Negan choose another character to kill instead, perhaps one not as popular? Or maybe Yeun is just very dedicated to hiding the spoiler.

It is more likely that Negan will not kill anyone on his first appearance, at least not anyone in Rick’s group. Since his debut is set for the season finale, it is more likely that viewers will merely be introduced to the character and his gang. The episode will probably lay out some background and give viewers a peek at who Negan is and how awful a guy he really is. It may end with a confrontation of some kind, it might be left as a cliffhanger for Season 7; this is all pure speculation. The only way to know for sure what is going to happen is to watch the season finale of The Walking Dead to see if the spoiler is something to riot about or not.

The Walking Dead Season 6 airs Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET on AMC with the season finale scheduled for April 3.
