WWE Rumor: Roman Reigns Returning To ‘WWE RAW’ Tonight

Former two-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns was temporarily written off of WWE television several weeks ago so he could have surgery on a deviated septum. Originally, Reigns was supposed to make his return on next week’s RAW in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. But, it looks like plans have changed.

Roman Reigns was spotted in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, earlier today, which is where tonight’s RAW show is taking place. Furthermore, PW Insider is reporting that Reigns is scheduled to appear on tonight’s show.

“Add Roman Reigns to the list of names who are in Pittsburgh, PA for tonight’s Raw taping. PWInsider has confirmed that Reigns is scheduled for tonight’s RAW.”

Tonight’s RAW will almost certainly be a newsworthy show, as Undertaker, Shane McMahon, Triple H, Vince McMahon, Brock Lesnar, and Paul Heyman are all scheduled to appear on the show. Also, the Wrestling Observer is reporting that Daniel Bryan may appear on tonight’s show as well and get involved in the Brie Bella vs. Lana storyline.

There also has been some speculation that Kurt Angle, who wrestled his final match with Impact Wrestling last week, may be appearing on tonight’s show because it’s taking place in his hometown of Pittsburgh. But, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer said that an Angle appearance is unlikely.

We’re only three weeks away from WrestleMania 32, so you can expect WWE to really go hard on the promotion of the show, which is probably why they’re moving Reigns’ return up a week. Also, another reason why WWE wrote Reigns off of television was to clear the way for Dean Ambrose to wrestle Triple H at WWE Roadblock, and now, with that show being behind us, the path is clear for Reigns to return and confront Triple H.

As of this writing, the WWE website does not have Roman Reigns listed as one of the advertised participants on tonight’s show. So if he does return tonight, it’ll end up being a “surprise.”

It’s expected that Triple H vs. Roman Reigns for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship will be the main event of WrestleMania 32, but there has been some talk of having Undertaker vs. Shane McMahon close out the show instead of the WWE Championship match.

If Shane is going to defeat Undertaker, then that match going on last makes sense. But if he’s not, then it may not be the best idea to have it close out the show.

There is some concern that the WrestleMania crowd will end up booing Roman Reigns in the WWE Championship match, and many are expecting WWE to bring in The Rock and Ronda Rousey to be in Reigns’ corner to attempt to circumvent the boos. But, having The Rock in Reigns’ corner didn’t work the first time they tried it, and it’s doubtful that it’ll work if they try it a second time.

It’s likely that WWE will add to the Reigns vs. Triple H match in the coming weeks, as many are expecting that Shawn Michaels will be made the special guest referee in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match. They also could add a stipulation or two to the match as well.

As of right now, there are no plans to change the finish of the Reigns vs. Triple H match. WWE is still hoping that having The Rock and possibly Ronda Rousey endorse Reigns as the new face of WWE after he wins the WWE Championship will be enough to convince the fans to cheer for him going forward. But again, that may not work out the way WWE is hoping it will.
