Carrie Fisher’s Daughter, Billie Lourd, Has More Screen Time In ‘Star Wars Episode 8’
Carrie Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd, confirms she will have a larger role and more screen time in the next Star Wars movie, Star Wars: Episode VIII. As far as any Star Wars: Episode VIII spoilers, or any details on her role, the 23-year-old Scream Queen actress just left fans with a teaser.
“Yes. I can’t say much about it but yes. I am working on Star Wars VIII, but that’s all I can say.”

Donning a more subtle version of the side cinnamon bun hairstyle made famous by her mother’s role as Princess Leia, Billie Lourd was only seen briefly in Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens. Lourd played Lieutenant Connix, and if you were paying close attention you might have caught her in the Resistance base scenes.
Still not sure which character was Carrie Fisher’s daughter? Don’t feel bad, Billie agreed she was easy to miss.
“Oh yeah, yeah,” Lourd told Slash Film. “The last one was a little Where’s Waldo-y.”
Next time you watch Star Wars: Episode VII, (in case you needed an excuse to watch Episode VII again) look for a scene where Lourd asks her mom, “General, are you seeing this?” This appears to be her only line in the movie.
Lourd gave a long drawn out “maaaaaybe” when Slash Film asked if she would have more screen time with her mother, Carrie Fisher in Star Wars: Episode VIII.
With Sith apprentice Kylo Ren to deal with, and other evil villains emerging, it seems likely General Leia will need a good lieutenant by her side.

On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Billie admitted she was not really much of a Star Wars fan growing up. When her mother first introduced the movies to her, Billie thought it was “too loud” and was not impressed by all the guns.
Lourd admitted in middle school being the daughter of Star Wars sex icon Princess Leia could only be described as awkward. Later on in life, she developed a respect for the Star Wars saga and her mother’s iconic role.
Although both parents are in the entertainment industry, her father is American talent agent, Bryan Lourd, neither parent had aspirations for their daughter to become an actress. But Billie wanted to follow in her mother’s famous footsteps. Star Wars: Episode VII was Billie’s first movie set and she watched her mother struggle to both act and “be a mom.”
Now that Billie has Star Wars under her belt, along with Fox horror-comedy series, Scream Queens, and biographical crime drama Billionaire Boys Club, being on set with her mother should likely prove to be much more comfortable for both actresses.
Star Wars: Episode VIII started filming in February and has a release date of December 15, 2016. According to Empire, Disney has promised a new Star Wars movie every year, which could potentially mean Billie Lourd has a shot of becoming another Star Wars icon just like her mother.
