Ellie Goulding Comes Clean On Dating History While Announcing A Break From Music

These questions, it seems, have been circling over Ellie Goulding’s head for years now regarding how she would describe her relationship with Niall Horan and Ed Sheeran. The rumors resurfaced in light of Ellie Goulding’s recent breakup, and her announcement that she intends to take a break from music. She admitted that the breakup has been hard, and feels that it is best to take some time to herself to recuperate before returning.

Ellie Goulding promised her listeners she is not quitting music, according to USA Today.

“I am not quitting music, I’ve come too far for that. Just having a break. It’s been seven years since I had time off… Love you all.”

Seven years? Nobody can blame her, then. She certainly deserves a break, but her fans will also certainly miss her fantastic music, hoping she comes back sooner rather than later. Perhaps she can take some advice from Taylor Swift and compose some songs about the breakup on her next album.

One thing she does want to quit, though, is all those rumors about Niall Horan and Ed Sheeran. Ellie Goulding’s heard it all, from having sex with Niall when she was with Ed Sheeran, to rumors of Ellie Goulding and Horan being secretly in love. And by the way, was Ellie Goulding even ever really with Ed Sheeran? That’s another question that remains to be answered, and that Ellie Goulding has been unwilling to clarify.

Ellie Goulding’s lips were sealed with invisible masking tape about all this before — until, finally, now. Ellie Goulding finally decided to rip off that masking tape to stop the rumors and unanswered questions in their tracks. That’s right, Ellie Goulding finally decided to set the record straight. After her recent breakup, her desire to clarify her dating history emerged, and she finally started sharing a bit about her previously quiet dating history.

Ellie Goulding confirmed that yes, she and Niall have dated. So, fans weren’t completely off base after all, and there was some truth behind all that gossip, according to Cosmopolitan.

Ellie Goulding spoke on what it was like to date Niall Horan.

“We went on a few dates, and it was really fun. He’s a really, really lovely guy. He’s got the biggest sense of humor, he’s very caring, and I see him as a genuine friend in the industry.”

And what about the cheating? Exactly when were these dates taking place, when Ellie Goulding was dating Ed Sheeran? Is his song “Don’t” really about that, and is her song, “On My Mind,” really a response to his?

The answer is no, according to Ellie. Ellie Goulding clarified her relationship with Ed Sheeran as well.

“He’s a really nice guy and a brilliant musician… we were never in a relationship… We’ve bumped into each other and we’ve hung out and stuff, but the thing is if I hang out with someone, it’s instantly like I’m ‘dating’ them.”

It turns out they have known each other for a few years, but they never dated, according to Cosmopolitan.
