Apple Debuting iPhone 5, iPad Mini On September 12, iPhone 5 Going On Sale Sept. 21

The iPhone 5 and Apple iPad Mini devices will be shown off during an Apple event on September 12, 2012 according to a report by Apple reporting website iMore. The site also claims that Apple will than quickly turn around and begin selling the iPhone 5 on Friday, September 21.

Also to be announced beside the iPad mini will be a new iPod nano model and potentially a new iPod touch. According to reports the rumor comes for reliable sources who have provided accurate Apple information in the past.

The iPhone 4S was announced on October 4, 2011 and released just 10 days later. If the iPad Mini and iPhone 5 follow suit the announcement and release dates would be in line with Apple strategies.

Reports in March pointed to an October released for the iPhone 5 while several other rumors have pointed to September 2012. The September 21 release date matches several reports for Chinese manufacturing sources.

The move would mean a faster production date for Apple, the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S were 16 months separated.

In the meantime the release dates rumored would fall in line with the iOS 6 testing schedule. iOS 6 was first revealed at Apple’s WWDC 2012 keynote and is expected to be ready for market by September, a fairly standardized time for Apple testing and compliance.

iMore believes Apple will show off added hardware and software features at the release event, a likely occurrence given the company’s past attempts to reveal big new features during highly touted press events.

As far as device configurations the iPad Mini is expected to have features similar to the 9.7-inch iPad but with a 7.x-inches display. It’s also believed that the Apple iPhone 5 will feature a 4.x-inch 16:9 display screen and potentially a smaller 19-pin dock connector which will replace Apple’s traditional 30-pin connector.
