Dwayne Johnson Makes Sick Kids Smile After Filming For ‘Baywatch’

Dwayne Johnson, aka “The Rock,” has been busy filming for his new movie, Baywatch, but he never fails to make time for the things that are really important in life. He appreciates that his fame allows him to do some amazing things and make people happy.

Johnson seems to especially have a fondness for children and that includes sick kids at the Savannah, Georgia, Memorial Health hospital, where a few of the scenes for Baywatch were being filmed. He’s starring in the Baywatch remake with Zac Efron, and Johnson is cast in the role of Mitch Buchannon. After a long day of filming, many celebrities would be eager to get off the set as quickly as possible so that they could relax. But not Dwayne Johnson.

Instead, he decided to head upstairs to the pediatric specialty ward to put some smiles on the faces of the children and the staff.

Among the children that met him was a little guy named Aiden. Dwayne Johnson took the time to give the little man a fist bump and you can just see the concentration in Aiden’s face as he connects with his big fist. Johnson posted the above picture on his Instagram account today and took a moment to thank the staff for all their hard work.

Johnson also reminded the mothers and fathers of the children to stay strong and admitted that stuff like visiting these children were one of the best parts of being famous.

This is just a little taste of the kind of things that Dwayne Johnson likes to do, whether he is filming or not. Just yesterday he posted a photo of Pedro on his Instagram account.

Pedro is another youth that is sick. He had come to the United States with his father for a bone marrow treatment. One of Pedro’s wishes was to meet Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and when Johnson found out about it, he had to meet him. Despite the fact that Pedro didn’t speak English, Dwayne seems to make quite a connection with him when Pedro and his father visited Johnson on set while filming Baywatch.

Just a few days earlier, Dwayne Johnson stepped out of his trailer to find a group of young girls ready to meet him.

This just goes to show that Dwayne Johnson is loved by girls and women of all ages. How could he not be? Johnson loves his fans and he’s not afraid to show it, whether with a smile or by attending an event.

In July 2014, when his film Hercules was released, several hundred kids in the Southland area in Los Angeles were invited to a special screening. The kids expected lots of fun, but what they didn’t expect was to have Dwayne Johnson appear and come and hang out with them.

Why does Dwayne Johnson have such a soft spot for kids?

In an ABC7 interview, Johnson spoke about why he likes spending time with kids, saying, “It’s very special to my heart.” He said that when he was between the ages of 13 to 15, “those were tough times, not only did we have tough times in the family, but also I was getting in trouble, I was getting arrested, I was doing a lot of things that I shouldn’t have been doing.”

The Boys Club in Honolulu, Hawaii, helped him out by encouraging him with activities to keep him off the streets like playing basketball and working out. Again, he said that being with the kids was one of the coolest parts of fame.

As Refinery29 mentions, Johnson has his own family now. Perhaps that comes into play with why kids are so important to him.

“Johnson’s been making kids smile for quite a while now, but perhaps the arrival of his own bundle of joy has renewed his enthusiasm for surprising his pint-sized fans. He became a proud papa for the second time this past December when his wife, Lauren Hashian, gave birth to adorable baby Jasmine.”
