14 years after the last fatality at the running of the bulls in Pamplona, American Matthew Tassio, another young man has been gored to death in the annual event, this time a Madrid native.

Daniel Jimeno Rosemary of the Alcala de Henares area in Madrid, was gored in the neck and lung by a bull that separated from the main group which ran the gauntlet of young men as the fourth of eight runs at the San Fermin festival. Rosemary died at the Navarre hospital of respiratory and cardiac failure at a quarter to nine in the morning local time in Pamplona.

The AP reports hospital officials as saying that three other people were also gored with a further six suffering minor injuries.

Rosemary carried a ring with an inscription in Castilian carrying the name of “Cristin” and the date of , 25 November 2003, which was the first clue that he was not a local. Three relatives including his parents are now at the hospital.
