Kristen Wiig Brushes Off John Goodman: ‘Yeah, I’ll Talk To You In A Minute’

Kristen Wiig should never be interrupted mid-conversation. That’s the one lesson learned by John Goodman after his recent interaction with the Ghostbusters actress, according to Huffington Post.

Goodman’s fans may think of him as one of the greatest comedians of our time, but the fact that he can be awkward will most likely surprise many of his fans. Some may even wonder why didn’t he wriggle out of this awkward interaction with Kristen Wiig with some funny quip? But he didn’t.

Here’s how the story goes, as revealed by Goodman himself during his interview on Monday with Howard Stern. At a recent dinner party, Goodman, who says he is a huge fan of Kristen Wiig and her movies, approached the 42-year-old actress mid-conversation and it didn’t exactly go as expected.

Goodman walked towards Kristen Wiig, while she was having a conversation with somebody else, “social barriers [broke] down” and he made a move to interrupt the Bridesmaids actress. And while the comedian himself admitted that he would “just hate” it if somebody did that to him, he is still wondering why Wiig said to him what she said.

“And she goes, ‘Yeah, I’ll talk to you in a minute.’ It was like the Atom. I shrunk down to Atom size…. I really like her, and it was embarrassing, so I’ll never speak to her again.”

But Goodman’s awkwardness doesn’t end with that one incident with Kristen Wiig. The comedian revealed to Howard Stern that he doesn’t feel “particularly” welcome at “Hollywood’s cool table.” That’s the conclusion he made after working with George Clooney and Matt Damon on The Monuments Men.

The Golden Globe award winner admitted that he has never felt comfortable among the “super A-level guys” and felt like he had never belonged at their table. Although the comedian hung out with The Monuments Men co-star Bill Murray (the two enjoyed bike rides together), he didn’t manage to become friends with Clooney or Damon.

“I tried to hang with them, but [Monuments Men co-stars] Matt [Damon] and George [Clooney] would always have these conversations, and they’d go out for cocktails afterwards and I don’t really drink, and I don’t bring a lot to that party because they’re super A-level guys.”

Last week, the trailer of the new Ghostbusters film, starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones, was released, according to The Washington Post.

Kristen Wiig’s fans had a chance to enjoy the hilarious Wiig-McCarthy duo in Bridesmaids, which was directed by Paul Feig, the same director that is working on the new Ghostbusters movie. The new film, which is the remake of the 1980s movie that starred Bill Murray, hits theaters on July 15.

Warning, Kristen Wiig’s fans: if you don’t like to see your favorite actress vomited on, it is advised to steer clear of the trailer and the movie as well. Judging by the trailer, she gets a lot of it! And her character even admits that it’s hard to wash off that vomit, because it’s everywhere, “in every crack.”

Kristen Wiig has recently appeared in a series called The 4%: Film’s Gender Problem, which is centered around gender inequality in Hollywood, as reported by SELF. According to a recent study by USC, there are only 4.1 percent of women among directors of 1,300 top-grossing films in the period between 2002 to 2014.

On March 8, EPIX premiered its brand new series regarding this issue. The series comes as six short movies, starring Kristen Wiig, James Franco and many other actors, actresses, directors, producers and writers, who discuss the gender inequality in the modern world.

In the first episode of the series, Kristen Wiig has a few words to say about the issue.

“It shouldn’t seem like such a crazy thing if a woman is nominated for an Academy Award for directing.”
