Garth Brooks Asks For Understanding As He Postpones New Album

Garth Brooks fans will have to wait a little longer than expected for his new album. The country music icon announced he is postponing the release because the writing isn’t as easy as it used to be. Brooks asked his fans for understanding in a lengthy, heartfelt Facebook post.

Garth Brooks thanked fans for making 2015 the busiest year of his career so far and for helping his comeback tour “shatter” expectations. Brooks then went on to explain his reasons for delaying the new album.

“When it comes to the new music, the one thing I keep hearing over and over is, ‘Where is the Garth stuff?’ I made the statement that when we came back on the road and into the studio, I was not confident in my own writing…it is a muscle and if you don’t use it, you just can’t turn it back on again…it takes time. But I DID hear you. And because of that, teamed with the touring schedule, I am asking a huge favor from you, I am postponing the release of the new studio record…I ask for your patience as I explore the writing again. I have been at it for over four months now, enjoying the challenge and enjoying the studio more because of it.”

It sounds like the new album will be well worth the wait, as Brooks promises it will be more “Garth” than anything he has done so far.

“This new album will be the most Garth thing I have ever done. Whether that is a good thing or a bad thing, you will decide.”

It appears Garth Brooks will get the patience and understanding he requested, as supportive comments have poured in since the announcement was made.

Brooks revealed in his open letter that he is inviting fans on the record making journey with him. Garth will be using Facebook Live to offer a glimpse behind the scenes, “from the production of the music, the manufacturing of the package, to the release of the record.”

“I really hope you are going to like this journey with me. Who knows? 2016 could be the best year, yet? When it is over, I sincerely pray I look on the year and can say, ‘Miss Yearwood and the girls are healthy.’ For as you know, your family’s health is truly all that matters. Here’s to a healthy and happy 2016.”

Garth Brooks announced his comeback tour in 2014 after taking 13 years off to raise his daughters, Taylor, August, and Allie, who are all grown up now. Brooks told People last year he doesn’t have a single regret about putting his career on hold to be a full-time dad.

“People said, ‘How could you walk away from music?’ But being a dad – there’s nothing that can touch that.”

Garth Brooks hopes to release the new album “sometime this summer.” His 2014 Man Against Machine album was his first since 2001. Brooks continues his world tour with wife Trisha Yearwood. He is also up for 2016 ACM Entertainer of the Year.
