Pac-12 Tournament Results: Brackets Present No Day Two Upsets In Tournament Scores

Pac-12 tournament results from day two favored the lower seeds. The 2016 Pac-12 tournament brackets have had no upsets yet, with eight games resulting in the higher seed winning so far. The Pac-12 tournament results from Thursday, March 10, began with the Oregon Ducks knocking off the Washington Huskies. Oregon is the No. 1 seed and had its hands full with No. 8 Washington. Despite the close final score, Oregon emerged with an 83-77 victory.

The Pac-12 tournament results continued on March 10 with No. 4 Arizona beating No. 5 Colorado 82-78. Arizona had a huge lead of 37-20 at halftime, but the Colorado Buffaloes came back with 58 points in the second half. It wasn’t enough to overcome Arizona, and Colorado falls to 22-11 on the season. That should still be good enough to garner an at-large invitation to the 2016 NCAA Tournament.

The afternoon games in the Pac-12 tournament brackets began with No. 2 Utah vs. No. 7 USC. The USC Trojans could have really used a victory to improve their resume, but the Utah Runnin Utes were just too much for them. Kyle Kuzma scored 23 points as Utah beat USC 80-72 to improve to 25-7 on the season. USC should still be in good shape for an at-large bid from the NCAA Selection Committee at 21-12 on the season.

The late game had No. 3 California playing against No. 6 Oregon State. The Oregon State Beavers came into the game with a 19-11 overall record. It put the team squarely on the bubble for getting an invite to the 2016 NCAA Tournament. Pulling off an upset and making it to the conference semi-finals was exactly what the team needed. Instead, it was California holding on in the second half to secure another important victory for the program.

There are just three games left in the 2016 Pac-12 tournament brackets, and they should be very good ones for the fans in Las Vegas. The first semi-final match-up is Oregon vs. Arizona at 6 p.m. PT on Friday, March 11. Oregon won the regular season title after Arizona had been picked by college basketball analysts around the country. Now the teams will face off for a chance to secure an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament later in March.

The second semi-final game is Utah vs. California at 8:30 p.m. PT. The schools each sport a player that will be selected high in the 2016 NBA Draft and could use this extra national attention. It gives a good subplot to the story as both schools fight for a spot in the 2016 Pac-12 Championship Game. That title game takes place on Saturday, March 12, at 7 p.m. PT. FS1 will broadcast it for a national audience.

There is a new bracketology report from ESPN that takes into account the latest Pac-12 tournament results. In it, Joe Lunardi predicts that seven Pac-12 schools are going to receive invitations to the 2016 NCAA Tournament. Those schools are Oregon, Utah, Arizona, California, Colorado, USC, and Oregon State. Lunardi states that USC and Oregon State are on the bubble, but he also puts them as No. 9 and No. 10 seeds within the brackets. That’s pretty strong with only three more days of games that will decide the final field.

The NCAA Selection Committee will also be paying close attention to the final three games in the Pac-12 tournament brackets. Oregon, Utah, Arizona, and California could each move up in the seeding based on the outcomes. If the Pac-12 tournament results in Oregon or Utah winning the championship game, it’s even possible that one of the schools could get boosted into a No. 1 seed. That might take an upset or two in other conference tournaments, but it could certainly showcase how impressive the Pac-12 Conference has been this year.
