Pac-12 Tournament Scores: Brackets Head To Day Two Of 2016 Pac-12 Tournament
Pac-12 tournament scores for March 10 will come from the quarterfinals. The 2016 Pac-12 tournament brackets have already eliminated four schools, slimming the field down to the remaining eight contenders. The schedule tips off at 12 p.m. PT on Thursday, March 10 with an intense Oregon vs. Washington game. The Oregon Ducks are currently ranked No. 8 in the nation but must now play a hot Washington Huskies team that made easy work of Stanford in the first round. Now, Andrew Andrews (UW guard) has a chance to improve his draft stock even more.
The rest of the Pac-12 tournament scores from the quarterfinals could also be very close. The other second-round games are No. 4 Arizona vs. Colorado at 2:40 p.m. PT, No. 2 Utah vs. USC at 6:15 p.m. PT, and No. 3 California vs. Oregon State at 8:45 p.m. PT. The top four schools in the conference (Oregon, Utah, Arizona, and California) already seem to have guaranteed invites to the 2016 NCAA Tournament. That might take some of the pressure off of the quarterfinal results.
The Pac-12 tournament scores from day two will then set up the brackets for the semi-finals. The semi-final games take place at 6 p.m. PT and 8:30 p.m. on Friday, March 11. The Pac-12 Championship Game is then scheduled for 7 p.m. PT on Saturday, March 12. FS1 will broadcast the championship game for a national audience to see which Pac-12 school wins the automatic invitation to the 2016 NCAA Tournament. There is a lot on the line, as only six teams are projected to make the field in the latest bracketology report from ESPN. The other two schools projected to join the field are Colorado and USC.
There are a lot of players left in the Pac-12 tournament brackets who are expected to be selected in the 2016 NBA Draft. Those players are California freshman Jaylen Brown, Utah center Jakob Poeltl, California forward Ivan Rabb, California guard Tyrone Wallace, Oregon State guard Gary Payton, Arizona center Kaleb Tarczewski, Washington senior Andrew Andrews, and Oregon big man Chris Boucher. Recently, Andrews scored 47 points against the Washington State Cougars, making it the highest-scoring game in college basketball this year.
The Pac-12 tournament scores from day one (March 9) were not very close. The 91-68 finish from the first game showed just how good the Washington Huskies have become late in the season. The big win over Stanford wasn’t the most lopsided first-round game, though. The second game of the day had the No. 5 Colorado Buffaloes playing against the No. 12 Washington State Cougars. The 80-56 victory for Colorado improved the team to 22-10 overall and gave it a stronger resume for the 2016 NCAA Tournament.
In the evening games, No. 7 USC did the same thing to No. 10 UCLA. USC fans had a lot to cheer about as the Trojans beat the Bruins 95-71 to head into the quarterfinals. To close out the day, No. 6 Oregon State beat No. 11 Arizona State 76-66. The reward for winning first-round games is a quarterfinal match-up against a team that performed much better in the regular season. Oregon (25-6), Utah (24-7), Arizona (24-7), and California (22-9) each received first-round byes and are nationally ranked after successful league play.
The 2016 Pac-12 tournament brackets have just seven games left before the conference reveals its champion. Second-round games begin just after 12 p.m. PT on Thursday, March 10, with Oregon vs. Washington getting the action started in Las Vegas. It should be a day packed with excitement for the fans in attendance and the game results could determine how many schools end up going to the 2016 NCAA Tournament. If Pac-12 tournament scores from the first round were any indication, day two will see even more offense coming from the eight teams on the court.
