Jabba the Hutt ‘Battlefront’ Role Adds New ‘Hutt Contracts’ Gameplay Mode

A new Jabba the Hutt Battlefront role will add what’s being called a “Hutt Contracts” gameplay mode, allowing players to kill for Jabba the Hutt. A new trailer for the multi-console Star Wars video game was released this week. The Huffington Post shared a trailer on Wednesday that teases the Jabba the Hutt gangster and crime lord character may be coming to the Battlefront reboot game as a free download this month.

No official announcement has been made by the Star Wars:Battlefront game developer EA DICE that Jabba the Hutt may be coming to the reboot of the 2004 Star Wars video game series, but die hard Star Wars fans and video gamers are assuming just that based on some clues that were stuffed into a new 30-second teaser trailer. Halfway through the action-packed video clip, a message pops up promising that “Hutt Contracts” are coming soon. Jabba the Hutt himself even appears briefly in the new teaser trailer.

But what does that mean? Gamers can only guess that successfully completing “Hutt Contracts” will gain them rewards or items that can be used throughout gameplay, like the two new weapons shown as holograms hovering above Jabba the Hutt’s hand towards the end of the trailer. Jabba the Hutt, the huge three-dimensional puppet that debuted in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi in 1983, took seven people to work and was famous for placing bounties on enemy heads. Battlefront players can only guess at this point that fulfilling the new “Hutt Contracts” will mean bounty hunting and killing for Jabba the Hutt.

This first of four new maps coming to Battlefront is titled Outer Rim and will be available for download this month for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and will be completely free for all Battlefront players, not just Season Pass owners. Suitably named, the Outer Rim map is set both in a factory area on the Sullust planet located in the Sullust system of the Outer Rim territories, as well as in Jabba the Hutt’s palace, which was located on the Outer Rim world of Tatooine in the third film of the late 1970s, early 1980s Star Wars epic space series.

Get back into the battle and unlock new gear with the new downloadable maps, according to the Star Wars: Battlefront new game updates teaser trailer.

The first of two games in the Star Wars video game series was released as Star Wars: Battlefront in 2004 by LucasArts and Pandemic Studios. The second major console game in the series, titled Star Wars: Battlefront II, was released in 2005, but a third game in the series could never get off the ground, even though the first two games had positive reviews.

The Walt Disney Company acquired Lucasfilm and LucasArts in 2012, and in November, 2015, a new game developer, Electronic Arts Digital Illusions Creative Entertainment (EA DICE), released a reboot version of the first original Battlefront video game published under owner Electronic Arts, again called Star Wars: Battlefront.

Over 12 million copies of the third Battlefront game sold worldwide. Players can play in first-person or third-person view as either a Rebel Alliance soldier or an Imperial Stormtrooper across all the planets of the Star Wars fictional galaxy far, far away. As playable characters Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, or Han Solo, just to name a few, gamers have been able to fly ships, drive vehicles, and shoot weapons in both original versions of the game and are now able to hunt down Jabba the Hutt’s most-wanted in the reboot version.

The Canada Journal says to look for mini-missions inside major battles as part of the new Jabba the Hutt Battlefront role. According to the Canada Journal, members of communities “who know games” are assuming players will have to travel certain distances in vehicles and reach a certain level of kills to complete the “Hutt Contracts,” much like mini-assignments in the first-person shooter video game Battlefield 4.

Polygon tells Battlefront players to look for the new premium version of Outer Rim also available sometime this month, but only for Battlefront Season Pass owners.

The free Outer Rim map is reportedly available now for download for any players who want to “get back into the battle” with addition of the new Jabba the Hutt Battlefront role.
