Mariah Carey To Star In New Reality Show, ‘Mariah’s Squad’

Mariah Carey is making the move from popstar to reality TV star.

Us Weekly is alleging that Carey has signed on the dotted line to appear in a new docu-series that will take fans behind the scenes of Mariah’s Las Vegas residency shows and her upcoming international tour, which currently has several dates scheduled around Europe and Africa from March to April.

According to the site, Mariah’s upcoming docu-series will be titled Mariah’s Squad and is thought to give Carey’s fans, who she calls Lambs, a never before seen look at what Carey really gets up to backstage at her shows.

“It’s nuts,” an inside source told the site of Carey’s new reality show, noting that Mariah “is very funny on camera.”

While the premiere for Mariah’s Squad is yet to be announced, Us Weekly‘s insider noted that more details surrounding the series are set to be revealed over the next few weeks.

Though Carey has yet to officially confirm or deny’s reality claims, news that Mariah will supposedly be taking her life to reality TV comes just months after Carey originally slammed reality stars during a press conferences in Israel and revealed that she “couldn’t handle” being the star of a reality show.

“Some people’s goal is to be famous, not to have a craft or an art that they’re famous for,” Mariah admitted back in August, adding that she feels it’s too easy for people to become famous in 2016 without having a notable talent or skill.

“Today, you can be famous just from being on a reality… well, doing… you don’t really have to do much, but you kind of got to do a lot,” Mariah continued, “And then your whole life is just about being a celebrity and that’s what some people aspire to, because it’s easy and because then everybody knows them and all they see is the bright side of fame.”

Carey even admitted at the time that she couldn’t imagine herself being trailed by a slew of cameras for a reality show, even revealing that she “couldn’t handle” the constant presence of the camera.

“I couldn’t handle being on a reality show, I couldn’t handle having people with cameras on me all the time,” Mariah Carey revealed at the time, “It’s already like that, it’s too much.”

It’s thought that Carey’s new show will follow Mariah as she tours Europe for the first time in 13 years on her Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour, which is set to kick off with a show at Glasgow’s SSE Hyrdo Arena on March 15.

Mariah recently opened up about her newest international tour to Reuters, where she admitted that she’s “looking forward” to touring the continent for the first time in more than a decade.

“I’m looking forward to coming back to Europe,” Carey told Reuters of the tour earlier this year, revealing that her European shows will differ slightly from her recent Las Vegas residency concerts. “I think that this is going to be an interesting tour because it’s not going to be the Vegas shows, which is just the number ones which are the American number ones.”

“Some of the songs that were number one in Europe were not even on the charts in America or didn’t go to number one,” Carey continued of her upcoming shows in Europe, “I want to add some songs that are just for real die-hard fans and some songs that did really well in Europe and some of the songs that people have come to know me for.”
