Remember that weird audition tape that New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft made with his girlfriend Ricki Lander?
Lander was angling for a part in a movie called The Internship, and Kraft was assisting her with the dialogue. Sadly, she didn’t get the part of Marielana–it went to Jessica Szhor of Gossip Girl fame. Marielana is a “dance instructor by day, stripper by night,” the Boston Herald reports.
The comedy, starring Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, is about “as two middle-aged guys who lose their jobs and have to start at the bottom in the new American workforce,” according to Deadline Hollywood. Filming is already underway in the Atlanta area.
With tongue in cheek, the Herald provides some further background on the embarrassing video:
Back in June, Ricki, a 32-year-old Hollywood bit player, put herself on tape with her 71-year-old man in hopes of snagging the dancer role. (Lander, in case you are unaware, has been training as a hoofer since age 5.) Somehow, as these things so often do, the video made its way to the interwebs and Kraft was reportedly mortified. Particularly since his role in the clip included some rather embarrassing dance moves, a little R-rated dialogue and the phoniest punch ever thrown.
Twentieth Century Fox has since yanked the Kraft-Lander audition tape off the Internet.
Once the Lander video surfaced, Mr. Kraft released the following statement:
I tried to help Ricki prepare an audition tape for an upcoming Vince Vaughn/Owen Wilson comedy by reading Wilson’s lines. I never intended that it would be made public and I regret that it has. I think we can all agree that Owen Wilson has nothing to worry about. I am going to stick to my day job.
Do you think Ricki Lander has a future in the movies?
