Madonna, Guy Ritchie ‘Reaching Settlement’ In Son’s Custody Battle

Having refused to back down from her custody war against ex-husband Guy Ritchie, Madonna is said to have agreed to a secret settlement that will allow both parents to spend a good amount of time with their 15-year-old son, Rocco.

Madonna and Guy have been caught up in a nasty legal war ever since Rocco flew out to London and refused to return back to New York City. The singer was outraged with the news that her son was unwilling to fly back home, convinced that his father’s influence might have pushed him to stay in Europe and turn against the pop diva.

During a court hearing last week, a judge sided with neither parent, affirming that the duo’s problems are deeply affecting their child. The judge continued by adding that the former married couple needs to come up with a resolution on their own — one that would suit Rocco’s needs and keep both parties relatively happy.

“They are arranging a custody agreement right now between them that will satisfy both Madonna and Guy, as well as Rocco,” a source tells Radar Online, revealing that Madonna and her ex-husband want what’s best for their son, who evidently makes the final call on where he wants to live.

According to the insider, Madonna and Guy are currently looking to co-parent Rocco with a joint-custody agreement. The arrangement would see Rocco spend the majority of the year with Madonna, while the British film director would have his son return to London for the holidays.

“Madonna and Guy both want a decision to be made quietly, and they will not put it out in the media that they resolved it. But by the next court date, everything will be settled and everyone will be content.”

While Madonna would have wanted full custody of her son, she is said to be understanding of the fact that Rocco needs a father figure in his life — one that is around all the time, not just once or twice a year. Guy Ritchie has never shut his son out of his life. In fact, the 47-year-old has always been fond of the idea of having Rocco move out to Europe for good, knowing that his teenage years tend to be the years where a son confides more in his father than his mother.

Rocco reportedly became unhappy living with Madonna because it seemed as if the ageing songstress never had any time for her 15-year-old son, especially when she embarks on her lengthy world tours, a source reveals.

With his half-sister, Lourdes, spending most of the year studying at the University of Michigan, Rocco felt secluded and supposedly wanted to be around people that could focus their attention on his education, his problems, and his needs. He is said to have had the best time since moving out to London but deeply misses his mother, so the chances of Rocco returning to Madonna’s home in New York seem very likely.

Madonna, who is allegedly willing to let Rocco spend the holidays with Guy, will most definitely make every effort possible to make sure such an incident doesn’t happen again. After all, Rocco is 15 — the puberty stage is known to be the worst at that age.
