Obsidian Entertainment will be coming out with the much awaited game adaptation of the popular show South Park.

Game developers are putting a huge emphasis on game presentation in order for South Park fans to relate more to the game. Obsidian Entertainment is doing this by making the game, South Park: The Stick of Truth, look as much like the show as possible. All South Park fans know that the shows 15-year success has not come from stunning visuals or beautiful graphics, but from its clever (and lewd) writing style. South Park: The Stick of Truth will possess the exact same characteristics as the show. According to theverge.com, Obsidian Entertainment’s Zane Lyon states “This is the most authentic South Park game ever produced. This is all in-engine [graphics], no video.”

South Park co-creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker worked together to come up with and write the game’s story. The game takes place in the small town of South Park, Colorado. You play the character of “The New Kid” who’s only desire is to become cool. The entire game is about The New Kid’s quest to make friends and earn his place at the side of Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny. The combat sequences of the game will model after classic turn-based video RPG’s, but the game also adds time-based events to add a little more character to the game. For example, attacks can be enhanced with the right button press and enemy’s attacks can be blocked with the right timing.
