Graham Nash Breaks Up With David Crosby For Good: ‘He’s Been Awful For Me’

Graham Nash says he is done with David Crosby forever. The Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young co-founder told Billboard that his long musical partnership with Crosby is over and that he will never work with him again. The longtime collaborators have been involved in a feud for a while now, and it sounds like it is now irreparable. In fact, Graham Nash was very clear with his comments about his former friend.

“In my world, there will never, ever be a Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young record and there will never be another Crosby, Stills and Nash record or show… Right now, I don’t want anything to do with Crosby at all. It’s just that simple.”

Graham Nash had a much harsher description of his former bandmate when he ranted about him to Dutch magazine Lust for Life last week. According to Rolling Stone, Nash said Crosby has treated him very poorly over the years.

“I don’t like David Crosby right now. He’s been awful for me the last two years, just f*cking awful. I’ve been there and saved his f*cking a** for 45 years, and he treated me like sh*t. You can’t do that to me. You can do it for a day or so, until I think you’re going to come around. When it goes on longer, and I keep getting nasty emails from him, I’m done… David has ripped the heart out of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.”

Graham Nash is not the only CSNY alum who has a beef with David Crosby. Neil Young isn’t too happy with him either. In 2014, after Young filed for a divorce from his wife of 36 years, David slammed the rocker’s new girlfriend, actress Darryl Hannah.

In an interview with the Idaho Statesman, David called out Neil Young for leaving his wife and hanging out with a “poisonous predator.”

“I happen to know that [Young] is hanging out with somebody that’s a purely poisonous predator now. And that’s karma. He’s gonna get hurt. But I understand why it happened. I’m just sad about it. I’m always sad when I see love tossed in the gutter.”

Although David eventually apologized to Neil Young for trashing his girlfriend, whatever he did to Graham Nash is a different story — and it definitely doesn’t sound like Graham’s in the mood to forgive. Interestingly, both Graham and David had romantic relationships with folk singer Joni Mitchell, but that is ancient history. (The 1970 Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young song “Our House” is reportedly about Graham Nash’s long relationship with Mitchell.)

While the end of CSNY is bad news for longtime fans hoping for a reunion of the classic rock supergroup, it doesn’t sound like Graham Nash made a rash decision about cutting ties for good. In the Billboard interview, Graham makes it sound like he deliberated before pulling the plug on his relationship with David. But Graham also made it clear that while he’s sad about what could have been, he is done with the drama and is ready to focus on himself.

“I was letting Crosby be who he is. I let people play their hand in front of me, and I let him do it and then I make a decision… How can I not be sad? Look at the music we probably lost. The truth is, after being totally immersed in me and David and Stephen and Neil’s music, I’m done… I need to concentrate on me now.”
