‘Breaking Bad’ Alum Aaron Paul Reportedly Cast In ‘The Dark Tower’

It looks like Breaking Bad alum Aaron Paul just might be getting what he wished for, as it is being reported that the actor has been cast in The Dark Tower.

Blastr is reporting Paul has been cast in the upcoming Dark Tower film, based on the Stephen King’s book series of the same name. There are no details on which character Aaron will play in the highly anticipated trilogy. Also, despite Blastr’s claim that they have a source involved in the production of the film and can confirm that Aaron Paul has been added to the cast, they also advised taking the news with a grain of salt.

Wondering why Aaron being cast in the movie is such big news? Well, there are a couple of reasons. First, the adaption of King’s book series has Hollywood and fans waiting on the edge of their seats. Talks regarding this franchise have been in the works for years, and now production is slated to star in the next couple of months with a January 17, 2017, release date for the first film.

Now, what does any of that have to do with Paul? Let’s go back a couple of years to a tweet sent out by Aaron. In 2012, Aaron Paul replied to a fan’s tweet that he should play Eddie Dean if there was a Dark Tower film. The Breaking Bad actor was quick to respond that it was a huge dream of Paul’s to play Eddie Dean.

Along with Aaron’s tweet, there was also an interview that he did in 2014 with Aint It Cool, where Paul revealed he had been to a ton of meetings regarding the movie. Plus, Aaron shared at the time that he had also met with Ron Howard, who at the time was rumored to be directing the films. Nikolaj Arcel is now on board to direct The Dark Tower.

To recap, there is the tweet from Paul expressing his interest. Following the “ton of meetings’ Aaron had a couple of years ago about the film, now a source involved with the production is claiming Paul has been cast in the film. All signs are pointing to this report being more fact than fiction.

Again there has been no official word from Aaron Paul, his rep, or Sony, the studio behind the film, confirming that Paul has been cast in The Dark Tower. However, as mentioned above, production is slated to begin in the next couple of months, so fans won’t have to wait too much longer to know whether Aaron is actually in the film and, if he is, which character he is going to play.

In other possible casing news for Paul, the actor recently shared that he would love for him and his Breaking Bad character Jesse Pinkman to make a cameo on Better Call Saul. In a recent interview, Aaron shared that he is obviously a big fan of the show and all those involved with it. Paul went on to tease fans that maybe he has already shot something for the show and just maybe it is going to air during this current season. Considering that Better Call Saul is a prequel to Breaking Bad, creator Vince Gilligan would have to come up with a very interesting and unique way to incorporate Jesse into the show. If anyone can do it, though, Gilligan can.

What are your thoughts on the possibility of Aaron Paul being cast in The Dark Tower? Do you hope he is playing Eddie Dean, or do you think there is another role better suited for the Breaking Bad alum?
