Christina Aguilera Threatens To Quit ‘The Voice’ Over Gwen Stefani & Blake Shelton’s PDA?

Christina Aguilera is back on The Voice, and according to a new report, she’s already fed up with her co-star Blake Shelton’s new romance.

On March 7, OK! Magazine reported news of the alleged on-set drama, claiming Christina Aguilera was threatening to quit the show due to Shelton’s ongoing PDA with Gwen Stefani. According to the report, the drama involving Christina Aguilera began last year, when she allegedly accused Stefani of embarking on a romance with Shelton in an effort to remain relevant on the show.

As fans will recall, Christina Aguilera and Stefani have been alternating seasons as coach for the last couple of years. However, after Stefani’s romance with Shelton began last year, she was brought back as a mentor for Team Shelton during Christina Aguilera’s season as coach. As the source revealed, it is this very issue that has reportedly left Christina Aguilera concerned for her future role on the show.

At the end of last year, as Shelton and Stefani’s relationship was thrust into the spotlight, Christina Aguilera reportedly demanded that she return as a coach after reportedly hearing buzz that Stefani could permanently replace her.

“[Christina Aguilera] said that it was her show and gave a really big spiel about how she thinks that Gwen used this Blake thing to try and stay on the show,” a production source told Radar Online. “Now people are dreading her return.”

As the source revealed, Stefani and Shelton’s on-screen chemistry led to an increase in ratings, which had many thinking a permanent spot was possible. Because Shelton would likely be upset if Stefani wasn’t a part of the show, Christina Aguilera allegedly became insecure with her job at NBC and made her determination to return quite clear.

However, while rumors continued to swirl in regard to a possible Stefani return, the source claimed there were no plans to change the cast of the show, whether it be to replace Christina Aguilera with Stefani or add her as a fifth judge, as Shelton suggested.

“They have been switching the female judges on and off for over three seasons now and it has nothing to do with how well Gwen is performing” or what Christina Aguilera wants, the source explained. “It has more to do with just keeping it different by changing it up. As of right now, there are no plans to make it five judges.”

While Christina Aguilera reportedly remains uneasy about the ongoing romance between Stefani and Shelton, they appear to be completely in love and ready to share their romance with the world. In November of last year, amid filming on The Voice Season 9, Stefani and Shelton got the rumor mill talking after they were spotted getting cozy at a Halloween party. A short time later, they confirmed their romance with a joint appearance at an after-party for the Country Music Awards in Nashville, Tennessee.

In the months since their big reveal, Christina Aguilera’s co-stars have been traveling the country between Oklahoma and California, where they’ve met one another’s families and continue to spend time with her three sons, Kingston, Zuma and Apollo.
