New Jersey Man Dies after Falling into Vat of Boiling Chocolate

A 22 year old factory worker has died after falling into a giant vat of boiling chocolate that was destined to end up in Hershey’s candy products.

Vincent Smith II, 29, was working on a platform near the vat of chocolate while it was being mixed and processed at a plant owned by Lyons and Sons in Camden, NJ, when he apparently got too close and fell in. Another worker nearby rushed to turn off the machine but Smith had already been hit by the mixing paddles in the tank and was submerged in the 120 degree chocolate. Firemen who responded to the 911 call pulled him out of the machine.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene and an autopsy revealed his cause of death to be asphyxiation, or drowning.

    You really never know what the cause of your death will be. The question now would be, why did he fall? is there something in the area that needs caution? Does the factory has something to do with his death? I think further investigation should be given on this case.

    i thought they said he was hitted by the paddle and got killed in the vat.

    Yeah this article is bogus. The guy was really 29 and he died from being hit on the head with the mixing paddle, not drowning in the chocolate. The police guess he died as soon as he was hit with it. I think Mr. Short needs to look over what he's writing about a little better.

    First you say he's 22 years old, then in the next paragraph it says he's 29. Makes no sense, and I wonder who wrote this.
