‘Charmed’ Reboot: Alyssa Milano Confirms Revival In The Works–Series To Return With Original Cast?

It’s a good day for those who grew up in the 90’s–rumors started to circulate that WB’s Charmed may be returning to television. Apparently, the original cast was set to come back in the series; however, production had other plans. Alyssa Milano stated on social media that even though the original cast was on board to return, the show’s production team has decided to move forward with the show’s return with an all new cast.

The news upset many fans as they were expecting to see Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs, Rose McGowan, and Shannen Doherty on the show’s revival. It looks like that may not happen, as Milano told her Twitter followers yesterday, “#Charmed fans Nothing has been confirmed. CBS is developing a reboot without the original cast. That is all I know.”

It all started earlier in the month when Netflix announced they were renewing Fuller House for Season 2. Shortly after that, Netflix proposed that a sequel series to Gilmore Girls. It seemed like the next likely series to return was Charmed. The over zealous fans started campaigning for their 90’s TV show to return, with one small catch–the fans were only on board for the return if Milano, Combs, McGowen, and Doherty all agreed to come back.

The catch was the girls all decided to return; however, the network had other plans. CBS had a plan to bring Charmed back with an all new cast–a younger cast. Alyssa Milano has been extremely vocal about her opinion of a reboot of the witchy series. Milano told Entertainment Tonight that with all the reunion shows lately, Charmed has an excellent chance of returning soon.

“It seems like that’s going to happen any second. I just feel like with all these reunions, and we still have such a cult following, that I feel like someone’s going to put that together at some point, and we’re all totally on board for that!”

In case you have never seen Charmed, the show was about four sisters who were witches (good ones, of course) who each had a special power, but when they worked together, their strength was enhanced to protect those around them. The show aired for eight seasons from 1998-2006, and ever since the final episode aired, there, have been rumors the show could be returning.

In 2013, Alyssa Milano brought up the idea of a Charmed movie. At the time, the actress wasn’t sure if Shannen Doherty was interested in appearing in a film. Shannen confirmed via Twitter that she would be on board if TPTB decided to bring the witchy sisters back for a movie or show.

Shannen stated that she thought enough was left unsaid and addressed in the final episode that it would make an excellent movie to tidy up the storylines and give the show a proper ending.

If you think Charmed should return for another season or as a movie, you can join the other 24K Facebook followers in the crusade to bring the WB show back to television. The latest information released was Alyssa Milano confirmed a reboot was in the works; however, TPTB decided to hire a new cast instead of bringing back the original actors.
