Joey Feek Enjoys Dolly Parton Surprise Video In Rory Feek’s First Farewell Message

Joey Feek has passed away, but not all her memories are sad. In his first blog post since his wife’s death, Rory Feek told the sad news. Then Rory reminded everyone again just how special Joey was. He shared a happy memory with fans who are mourning Joey’s death with him. Rory told fans and friends about how he surprised Joey with words of encouragement from one of her favorite entertainers, Dolly Parton. Leave it to Rory to give fans another happy moment in the wake of the saddest news.

Rory told his fans on his personal blog that Joey Feek had died on Friday. In the heartbreaking blog post, Rory also told fans about the time he tricked Joey and surprised her with a video message from Dolly Parton. According to Rory, he planned a movie night so that he could watch one of Joey’s favorite movies with her and her family.

“Joey’s family, Russdriver and I gathered around Joey’s bedside to watch the movie Hope Floats (one of the few movies Joey knew and loved) with her,” Rory wrote. “But instead of pushing play on the DVD, I pushed play on the video I had received… and we all watched Joey watch. It was the most beautiful moment I have ever been part of.”

Feek explained in his post that he gathered everyone around the TV, and Joey thought they would be watching Hope Floats. Instead, he had loaded up a video message from Dolly Parton to Joey to encourage her and to wish her the best. When he pressed play, Rory also had the moment recorded so he could share Joey watching Dolly’s message for the first time.

“Joey, I just wanted you to know that I really appreciate the fact that you’ve done my songs and talked about me at different times and I’ve heard that you’re a big fan,” Dolly said. “I want you to know that I appreciate that and I want you to know that I’m sorry you’re not feeling good, but I know that we have something in common. We both believe in a higher power. We both believe that, through God, all things are possible. So, you keep praying and I’ll keep praying for you and I just think you’re wonderful and I know that God’s proud of you. So, I just wanted to take a chance to say thank you for loving me and I’ll be loving you.”

“That was better than meeting her,” Joey said through tears. “So amazing… If I die tomorrow, I would be so complete.” Then Joey hugged Rory and told him, “I love you.” What a great moment for Rory to share with their fans. Check out the video below.

Joey Feek had been a Dolly Parton fan all her life, according to OK! Magazine. She had been singing Dolly’s songs since she was a child and even performed several of her songs with Rory. Feek credited the video to their friend, Kathy Olen, who was able to coordinate a filmed message from Dolly to Joey. Rory told their grieving fans that Joey never got a chance to visit Dolly, but meeting Parton had always been something she wanted to do. She didn’t know that Dolly even knew who she was, but it turns out that Dolly listened to her music, too.

Joey was 40-years-old when she died on Friday, March 4, in her hometown of Alexandria, Indiana.
