Magic Johnson said at Michael Jackson’s memorial service that MJ “made me a better point guard”. Really, Magic? Here is a transcript of a training session Magic had with Jackson some time during the 1990s when Magic was at the Lakers.

MAGIC: Hey Michael, glad you could come down and teach me a few moves.

MICHAEL: You wanna be startin’ somethin’, ya got ta be startin’ somethin’!

MAGIC: Yes Michael, let’s get started, good idea. First I wanted to ask you about my perimeter shooting. What should I do if I’m struggling with my accuracy?

MICHAEL: Keep on with the force, don’t stop. Don’t stop ’til you get enough.

MAGIC: Okay, that’s good advice. How about when I go to the hoop and get pressure from my opponent, what do you think I should do?

MICHAEL: Just beat it, beat it! No one wants to be defeated.

MAGIC: Yes, but sometimes they shove me and disrespect me. What should I do about that?

MICHAEL: Show them how funky and strong is your fight. It doesn’t matter who’s wrong or right.

MAGIC: But then I’ll get in foul trouble from the refs!

MICHAEL: If they say why, why… tell ‘em that it’s human nature. Why, why, does he do me that way?

MAGIC: Right, so point the finger at the other guy. So if I get to the paint, do I take the dunk myself or do I pass it off to my big guys?

MICHAEL: Jam!

MAGIC: Aw come on man, I bet you never dunked a ball in your life.

MICHAEL: It ain’t… Don’t you… It ain’t too much for me!

MAGIC: Alright Michael, I’ve been having a few problems in the locker room with my team mates. They say I’ve been hogging the ball too much. What do you think?

MICHAEL: If you wanna make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and then make a change.

MAGIC: Thanks Michael, I think you really helped make me a better point guard. Hey man, me and the boys from the team are going to catch a movie, wanna come with?
