Jerry Hall and Rupert Murdoch Officially ‘Tie The Knot’ At Wedding Ceremony In London

Jerry Hall, the former partner of Mick Jagger, is now married to media mogul Rupert Murdoch after they officially tied the knot at 11 a.m. local time on Saturday. Jagger was reportedly not happy about the situation.

The Inquisitr reported back in January that 59-year-old Jerry Hall had become engaged to 84-year-old Rupert Murdoch. Murdoch reportedly popped the question after the Golden Globes Awards ceremony in Los Angeles and the future blushing bride replied in the affirmative.

In a later article, the Inquisitr reported that while many people were happy at the union of the couple, many quite literally felt ill at the prospect of Jerry Hall marrying Rupert Murdoch and took to Twitter to announce their disgust. One Twitter user commented that he “had to swallow hard to keep his dinner down,” whilst another said he had “a bit of sick in his mouth.”

While it hasn’t been that long since Murdoch popped the question and Jerry Hall officially said “yes” by popping an engagement ring on her finger, the pair are now officially married.

Rupert Murdoch and Jerry Hall first officially married on Friday in a private ceremony at Spencer House in London, which reportedly belongs to Princess Diana’s brother, Earl Charles Spencer.

Murdoch immediately went to Twitter following the ceremony to let his 745,000 followers know that he wouldn’t be on the social media for a while following his wedding.

The couple has since held another more public ceremony at St. Bride’s Church right in the heart of Fleet Street. The church reportedly calls itself “the journalists’ church” due to its location and popularity with the press.

Among the celebrities at the wedding ceremony were Sir Bob Geldof, Andrew Lloyd Weber, Richard E Grant, Sir Michael Caine and artist Tracey Emin, along with several Cabinet ministers. The ceremony also saw several media figures, including Alan Yentob, Rebekah Brooks, Daily Mail editor Paul Dacre and editor of The Sun Tony Gallagher.

As reported by the Sydney Morning Herald, Jerry Hall’s bridesmaids were made up of her own and also Murdoch’s daughters, making a total of six.

Reportedly, Rupert Murdoch is not new to marriage, as he has previously been married three times.

The wedding was a first for Jerry Hall, who previously had a long-term relationship with Rolling Stones lead singer Mick Jagger, but never officially got married.

According to the Independent, not all journalists were happy about the venue of the wedding, as Murdoch had effectively shut down Fleet Street‘s historic link with the media industry after he relocated printing presses to Wapping, East London in the 1980s.

According to the Mail Online, the wedding ring joins Jerry Hall’s engagement ring, which cost a tasty £2.4 million ($2.85 million). It is a 20-carat marquise cut diamond ring set in a platinum band.

While most of their friends and colleagues are happy to see Jerry Hall and Rupert Murdoch united in marriage, Mick Jagger, 72, is reportedly not the least bit happy for his former love. In fact, according to the Mail Online, Jagger was appalled when he heard the news of their engagement and was said to be “absolutely staggered and horrified.”

According to a friend of Jagger’s, who is playing with the band in Lima, Peru shortly, “He has been seething because this means that Rupert Murdoch is going to become a part of his extended family, and Mick has a real problem with that.”

Reportedly, the reason for this upset is due to the fact that it was Murdoch’s British tabloid newspaper, the Sun, that broke the news when Jagger fathered a baby with a Brazilian lingerie model, Luciana Morad, back in the day. It was that affair that ended Jagger’s relationship with Jerry Hall.
