Rupert Grint thought he was going to die from swine flu

Harry Potter actor Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley in the movie franchise) panicked when doctors confirmed he had Swine Flu, which has caused several fatalities around the globe in recent weeks.

He said: “It was quite scary when I first found out I had swine flu. I thought, ‘Am I going to die?’ But it was just like any other flu really. I had a sore throat and I went to bed for a few days.”

However, the British actor seemingly felt better as he greeted fans at the UK premiere of the sixth film, ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ in London’s Leicester Square Tuesday night (July 7.)

Last week, it was revealed the 20-year-old star had been forced to take time off from filming ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ – the final big screen adaptation of the JK Rowling novels – when he contracted the illness.

His publicist said: “Other scenes were shot in his absence which did not require his involvement and this filming was not disrupted.” The publicist also confirmed Rupert is back in good health and is no longer contagious or at risk of infecting others.
