Remember That ’21 Jump Street’/’Men In Black’ Crossover? It’s Happening!

In the past, there’s been some epic crossovers on TV, but nothing can possibly compare to the level of insanity that will come from a 21 Jump Street and Men In Black crossover film. Picture Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill fighting crime against aliens, while still bringing their comedic gold. Hilarious, right?

Well it seems that dream may just become a reality. Back in 2014, it was revealed in the leaked Sony emails that Sony was planning on bringing the guys from 21 Jump Street into the Men In Black world. Although there was no indication of such a film in the endless amount of possible sequels shown at the end of 22 Jump Street, a director has now be found for the film.

Alice in Wonderland director James Bobin has signed on to direct this improbable Jump Street/Men In Black crossover, reports the A.V. Club. For Bobin, this won’t be a simple task. Although Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the directors behind the previous Jump Street films, will produce the new film, they have no other attachments to it. Additionally, Men In Black stars Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith will not appear in the films either.

Sony is reportedly looking for some A-list actors to fill the big shoes of Jones and Smith, but it’ll be difficult to find anyone that satisfies the fans. When the possible Jump Street/Men In Black crossover was first leaked, many people were not impressed, but that didn’t stop Sony from getting Rodney Rothman to write the screenplay, according to io9.

Still, although there’s now a script and a director, the film isn’t a definite go just yet. However, if the film does get the green light, production for the new Jump Street film could begin as early as June.

Although the Men In Black stars won’t be reprising their roles, Jump Street actors Tatum and Hill will be returning and producing the film. Reportedly, Sony’s replacements for the Men In Black characters will be younger actors that could then lead to a reboot of the films for a new generation. Anyone else think Michael B. Jordan would make the perfect new Jay? Hopefully he won’t be too busy with the Fantastic Four reboots to step in.

Despite some fans still being against the new Jump Street movie, many fans are getting on board and are excited to see what will come of this movie.

One person who’s definitely excited for the idea is Mr. Jonah Hill, himself.

“Jump street merging with mib i think that’s clean and rad and powerful,” Hill stated in one of the leaked emails, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The combining of these two franchises could indeed be “powerful” for Sony if done well. The Jump Street films have done very well, mostly due to the comedic duo that is Tatum and Hill. Using Jump Street‘s momentum, Sony’s plan for a new Men In Black franchise could be jump started immediately with this new film.
