Whitney Houston And Her Daughter Died In Eerily Similar Ways

When legendary singer Whitney Houston died just before the Grammys in 2012, the world was taken off guard, but not really surprised. Houston had a history of drug abuse and a tumultuous personal life. Not to mention that her career was past its prime. Despite all of the contributing factors, losing Whitney Houston at the age of 48 was a tragedy, and it set the music world back on its heels.

Then, last summer, Whitney Houston’s only daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, tragically died in July. Just over three years after the loss of Whitney, the loss of Bobbi Kristina was heartbreaking, both to the world and those closest to her.

While the similarities between the fate of Whitney Houston and young daughter Bobbi Kristina were apparent from the moment Bobbi Kristina was found face-down in a bathtub full of water, just like her mother, the glaring similarities between the deaths of Whitney Houston and her daughter have never been more apparent than they were today. That’s because on Friday, the official cause of Bobbi Kristina’s death was released, and it was eerily similar to what took the life of her iconic mother, Whitney Houston.

As E! reports, Whitney Houston’s daughter was always party to a very dysfunctional relation between her parents. Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown’s strife was the stuff of tabloid headline dreams, and Bobbi Kristina was obviously caught in the middle for most of her young life. The pair even documented their marital problems for the world to see in the reality TV show Being Bobby Brown, which debuted in 2005. The series ensured that Bobby Brown’s substance abuse struggles were not only well-documented, but that they were broadcast for the world to see.

There was no way to know whether Brown took his wife down the wrong path or if Whitney Houston led her husband. Suffice it to say, they went through hell together. Whitney Houston and Brown struggled through arrests, car accidents, rehab and more during their on-again, off-again relationship. The pair had been childhood sweethearts, married in 1992. During the show, Whitney Houston admitted to prolific drug use, even at the pinnacle of her career. She even famously described herself as a “functioning junkie.”

Ultimately, Whitney Houston’s drug-filled, roller-coaster life ended in tragedy. She was found dead, face d0wn in a high-end bathtub, at a Beverly Hilton hotel on February 11, 2012. She had been scheduled to make an appearance at Clive Davis’ pre-Grammys shindig, and she never showed.

In her room, the L.A. coroner reportedly found a “white crystal like substance,” as well as champagne, food and other personal effects.

Whitney Houston’s cause of death? Accidental drowning. Contributing factors officially included, among other things, a preexisting heart disease and using cocaine “just probably immediately prior” to her drowning. Other medications were also found in her system upon autopsy.

Fast forward three years. Whitney Houston’s daughter was in a car accident, found unconscious, and accused of losing control of her vehicle. A bench warrant was also issued for her arrest.

Four days later, 21-year-old Bobbi Kristina was found face-down in a bathtub full of water. Unlike her mother, Whitney Houston, Bobbi was found in her own home. A home she shared with her “fiance,” Nick Gordon. A young man who’d been raised in her household, like a sibling. A young man who reportedly led her down the same road traveled by Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown. A young man who reportedly introduced her to drugs.

Gordon, along with a friend, were the pair that found Whitney Houston’s daughter unresponsive, face-down in a tub of water on January 31, 2015. After her “rescue” by medical personnel, she spent nearly half a year in a coma, unresponsive, in a hospice facility. Whitney Houston’s only daughter ultimately died on July 26, 2015, as a result of the injuries she’d sustained in the tub almost six months prior.

Now, today, March 4, 2015, Whitney Houston’s daughter’s autopsy results became public, following the request of a local news station to have them unsealed. Houston’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina, reportedly died of a combination of drug intoxication and and drowning. Just like her famous mom.

The drug cocktail found in the system of Houston’s daughter included alcohol, morphine, a cocaine byproduct, trace amounts of marijuana and a sedative.

Ironically, the release of the coroner’s report took place on what would have been Bobbi Kristina’s 23rd birthday.

When it was all said and done, the Fulton County ME could not definitively determine whether or not Whitney Houston’s daughter died accidentally or otherwise, or whether or not the morphine found in her system had anything to do with heroin abuse.
