Donald Trump Lashes Out At Mitt Romney, Calls Former GOP Nominee A ‘Choke Artist’

Donald Trump is being attacked from inside the GOP in an attempt to derail his very successful campaign. Mitt Romney took aim during a recent speech in Utah. Romney called the current GOP front-runner a fraud and told a crowd that if Trump wins, America will be “less safe.” Naturally, Trump didn’t take the criticism well and has already lashed out at Romney. Will this new feud between Romney and Trump get the former GOP candidate charged up about running again?

The Donald never holds back and his most recent comments were no different. Upon addressing what Romney had to say about him, ABC News reported that Trump replied, “So this morning Mitt spoke about me, and I will address it – although it was irrelevant.”

“Mitt is a failed candidate. He failed badly,” Trump said of his fellow Republican critic. Then Trump went on to explain why he endorsed Romney in his run for the presidency against Barack Obama in 2012. “That was a race that should have been won. I don’t know what happened to him. He disappeared. And I was not happy – I am not a fan of Barack Obama, and so I backed him.”

Then Trump went on and did a little character assassination of his own. “And Mitt was begging me for his endorsement,” Trump exclaimed. “I could have said: ‘Mitt, drop to your knees,’ and he would have done it.”

Ironically, Trump blasted Romney for the way he ran his campaign and then brought up Romney’s huge political blunder when he offended a huge part of the population. It was Romney’s infamous 47 percent snafu that Donald decided to remind the people about. In September 2012, Romney was secretly filmed talking about the 47 percent of the population that he believed would vote for Barack Obama no matter what he did. The conversation predicated around the thought that those who received government assistance would prefer Obama because of Romney’s stance and plans for government assistance. Certainly Romney’s biggest political mistake is no worse than a handful of things Trump has said and done on the campaign trail.

Trump went in to criticize Romney for the way his 2012 campaign was run, especially after the damaging 47 percent comments. He blasted Romney for disappearing near the end of his campaign and even said he didn’t like Romney’s campaign manager. Donald claimed that when Romney’s people called him for help zoning a garage, he refused to speak to his GOP endorsement because he was upset about the loss. Trump blamed Romney for not beating Barack Obama in the election because of the way he handled the late-in-the-race blunder that blew any chance Romney had of beating Obama.

Now that Romney has stood up against Trump for president, it seems the current GOP frontrunner is gunning for his former friend. Romney is hinting that he might throw his hat in the ring since Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz can’t seem to garner enough GOP support to stop Trump’s bid for the nomination. As Trump’s popularity grows, so does the horrific realization that the GOP may end up having to nominate Trump despite the objections of many respected opinions.

There has even been talk from within the Republican party that if Trump does win the nomination, they will go ahead and vote for a third-party candidate. A situation like this has never occurred where a candidate has been given the nomination by a party that is so divided on whether or not he is even fit to run. Romney thinks Trump is a horrible choice for president. Like many others, he has voiced concern over whether Trump as president would put America in danger with other countries when he tries his hand at foreign affairs.

Romney is concerned enough for the safety of the country that he’s considering a run against Trump. Do you think Romney could successfully win the nomination this far into the race, or would the GOP be forced to vote third party in order to avoid Trump? Either way, if Trump is so confident that he would win anyway because Romney is a “quitter” and that he is a “choke artist,” then he shouldn’t be worried about Romney’s plans to enter the race.
