Harry Styles And Louis Tomlinson Feeling Down: Some Songs To Cheer Them Up

In recent weeks, neither Harry Styles nor Louis Tomlinson have seemed their usual selves. Tomlinson has, of course, just lost his beloved grandfather and confidant Keith Tomlinson, and with a possible custody battle on his hands, perhaps Louis doesn’t have much to smile about at the moment. Harry, on the other hand, has largely dropped out of sight in recent weeks, but in his inimitable manner, Styles has dropped some heavy hints that he is feeling lonely. As reported by the Inquisitr Harry has taken to tweeting lyrics from old songs as a possible clue to how he is feeling.

Last week, Styles missed the Brit Awards while Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne went along to collect One Direction’s latest award for the video for “Drag Me Down.” It seems that something is dragging Harry down, because he shared a picture on Instagram that suggested he was feeling lonely. Styles even captioned the post “lonely buffet.”

The Daily Mail reported yesterday that Tomlinson was “looking downcast” as he popped into Starbucks for another of his now-famous coffee stops. As any fan of One Direction will be well aware, Tomlinson, Styles, and the rest of the boys are on the cusp of a lengthy hiatus. To be frank, that break might just as well have already started, as the boys have not been together since early December.

When you think about it, Tomlinson, Styles, Horan, and Payne have spent so much time together since 2010, when One Direction were formed, that they simply have to be missing each other. As a band of brothers, they have shared so many highs and lows over the past five years that being apart for so long simply has to be a huge wrench.

Styles has tweeted song lyrics from Elvis and Norah Jones in recent days, and both those songs hint clearly that Harry is missing a special someone. With Styles and Tomlinson both appearing to be a little down in the dumps, One Direction fans would like nothing better than to see the boys all reunited to cheer each other up.

As Harry is concentrating on song lyrics, here are a few songs that might just help to cheer Tomlinson and Styles up a little.

Louis Armstrong’s “What A Wonderful World” is a song that concentrates on precious memories and would serve to remind Tomlinson and Styles that success has brought them much to be grateful for, but, of course, in the 24-hour world we now live in, success comes at a heavy cost. The beautiful lyrics can serve to remind Louis and Harry that they are surrounded by love.

“The colors of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky, are also on the faces of people going by. I see friends shaking hands, sayin’, ‘How do you do?’ They’re really sayin’, ‘I love you’.”

Given that the boys are all missing each other Styles would do well to check out this lovely song from Avril Lavigne. “When You’re Gone” reflects on the difficulties of being apart from loved ones and the line “when you walk away I count the steps that you take” seems especially appropriate given that Styles and Tomlinson are currently on opposite sides of the world and Niall has disappeared who knows where.

As anyone who follows One Direction is well aware, Styles recently broke links with One Direction’s current management team. Fans generally despise that management team because they believe that Styles, Tomlinson, and the others have been forced into a series of ridiculously transparent PR stunts. When Styles was reported to have moved management, One Direction fans celebrated and, as a result, Queen’s “I Want To Break Free” may well be Tomlinson’s new anthem.

When Zayn Malik walked out on One Direction last year, he famously claimed that in the rest of the band he had “four friends for life.” The opening lines of the James Taylor and Carole King classic “You’ve Got a Friend” seem especially appropriate at the moment, because it certainly seems that Styles and Tomlinson could do with a friend right now.

“When you’re down in troubles, And you need some love and care, And nothing, nothing is going right, Close your eyes and think of me, and soon I will be there, to brighten up even your darkest night.”

Of course, Harry has been busy writing songs himself. According to Billboard, Styles registered four new songs with the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers back in December. While we have not had a glimpse of the lyrics yet, two of those songs might well refer to the emotions Tomlinson, Styles, and the others are feeling at being apart after so long in each others company. Harry’s song “5378 Miles” is believed to refer to the distance between L.A. and London, while “Already Home” could prove to be an oblique reference to home being where you are happiest.

As Styles and Tomlinson may well be reflecting, at present, “home is where the heart is.”
