‘Harry Potter’: 2 New Movies Confirmed, Cast Photo Revealed

Harry Potter may have ended five years ago, but the craze about J.K. Rowling’s hit series about a wizard boy still lives on. And it doesn’t seem that J.K. Rowling is ready to let go of that craze either.

During a casual Twitter conversation with fans on Monday, Rowling confirmed that Fantastic Beasts will consist of three movies, while Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will never be adapted into a movie, according to Tech Insider.

J.K. Rowling wrote the script for the new Harry Potter film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which will hit theaters in November this year, and now it turns out that it will be the first movie of a trilogy that tells a story about magizoologist Newt Scamander.

The first movie of the new Fantastic Beasts trilogy will take place in New York City in 1926, and Harry Potter fans are already making guesses that rumors, which recently surfaced on the internet, about wizarding schools around the world could become a clue for upcoming movies of the trilogy.

The first movie of the trilogy stars Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, who studies magical creatures, some of which Harry Potter fans might remember from the original series about the wizard boy.

According to the movie’s plot, Scamander arrives in New York from London with a briefcase full of magical creatures such as hinkypunks and grindylows. In New York, Scamander will meet Porpentina “Tina” Goldstein (played by Steve Jobs actress Katherine Waterston), a witch who works at the American version of the Ministry of Magic.

Meanwhile, exclusive photos of the full cast of stage play called Harry Potter and the Cursed Child recently surfaced in the internet, according to the Daily Mail. It was the first group photo of the entire cast of the play that debuts at London’s Palace Theatre on July 31, 2016.

Until that photo was released by the Official Harry Potter Play Twitter account, the only actors that had been officially confirmed were Harry, Ron, and Hermione (played by Jamie Parker, Paul Thornley, and Noma Dumezweni, respectively).

Originally, Harry, Hermione, and Ron were portrayed by Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, respectively.

The photo includes a group of 56 people who have been working on the stage play: actors, production members, and creatives as well as the author of original Harry Potter series, who co-wrote the play’s script along with Jack Thorne and John Tiffany.

The photo indicates that the entire team working on the play is ready to start rehearsals before the world premiere at London’s Palace Theatre on July 31, 2016.

In other news, it seems that your Harry Potter books could be worth a fortune, as reported by the New York Post. Such a conclusion was reached by AbeBook, an online store that offers rare editions of books and out-of-print books.

AbeBooks found that early editions of Harry Potter books are still rising in price, with a U.K. first edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone costing as much as $55,000. Meanwhile, an early edition of Harry Potter and Chamber of Secrets can bring you up to $9,000.

Harry Potter and Prisoner of Azkaban with author J.K. Rowling’s name spelled wrong is worth about $12,000. It goes without saying that if your copy was signed by author J.K. Rowling, it increases the value of the book. For example, signed copies of Harry Potter and Goblet of Fire sold for nearly $11,000.

AbeBooks explains the high values with Rowling’s continuing output, as well as the never-ending popularity of Harry Potter books and movies as well as actors that starred in them.
