Though OJ Simpson is currently cozy behind bars, word is he’s working on releasing a documentary film focusing on himself in an effort to improve his public image.

The OJ film, titled The Unpromotable, focused on Simpson’s attempts to promote a chain of nightclubs after the death of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown. In case you don’t remember, OJ was acquitted of murdering Brown, his ex-wife, but his public image never really recovered from the allegations. The OJ film is compiled of footage taped during a United States tour in 2001, reports the Christian Post.

Simpson’s promoter Norman Pardo took it upon himself to help OJ improve his image and re-establish his popularity by filming him on a cross-country tour in 2001, but the footage apparently just shows Simpson partying. ”It’s him with girls all over him in clubs. It doesn’t show him in a great light (but) in both lights. I do show what it’s like to work with him,” said Pardo. How this is supposed to help OJ improve his public image, I have no idea, but it’s probably in the same vein as that idiotic “If I Did It” book nonsense.

Simpson is currently in jail for entirely different charges than the murder of his ex-wife and her lover. He was convicted in 2008 of kidnapping and armed robbery following a Las Vegas incident with two memorabilia dealers. He’s facing up to 33 years in prison, reports Daily Mail.

OJ’s documentary film, which remember, is supposed to “improve” his public image, has Pardo touring 35 states with Simpson, who is in “complete denial” regarding the public’s perception of him. Pardo included that he was sent death threats after taking Simpson on as a client. The documentary won’t see the light of day until after the presidential elections in November.

According to sources, Simpson wants the film’s opening postponed because the movie has racial undertones and he doesn’t want to affect President Obama’s chances at a second term.
