Virgin Mary Tree Trunk Draws Crowds To New Jersey

The Virgin Mary has been found and she’s in New Jersey. Hundreds of Catholics are flocking to New Jersey to gaze upon the Virgin Mary Tree Trunk.

The AFP reports that Catholics have been flocking to the crime filled city of West New York to take pictures of “the miraculous apparition of the Virgin Mary’s image” that appeared in the side of a small tree. Maria Baez, who was one of the first people to notice the holy image on the side of the tree, said that she wants to build a monument to protect the tree.

Baez said that a woman named Carmen Lopez saw a light around the tree but was too frightened to examine it. Shortly after, Baez experienced a similar vision. Baez claims that she was drawn to the tree by a light and was greeted by the Virgin Mary.

Baez said:

“She saw a light and it was the Virgin. She went on to work, but she was frightened. When I got here I saw her: she said ‘I’m the Virgin.’ I was speechless.”

The holy mother hasn’t appeared since then but her marking has been carved into the tree.

A metal barricade has been constructed around the tree and a squad car has been parked nearby. Mayor Felix Roque told the local press that the town spends about $1000 a day to manage the Virgin Mary Tree Trunk.

Ruben Rafael, who lives in the crime ridden city, said:

“I was convinced… There’s a lot of crime in this town. So this helps us Catholics, Christians. She’s here to cure the pain in this town.”

But not everyone is a believer. Ed Venicio, 35, said:

“I’m a Catholic and I believe very much in the Virgin, but the picture in this knot is just a coincidence… However, I believe that whether or not it’s real, the important thing is that it motivates people’s faith. It gets them to go back to church and remember that God exists.”

Here’s a picture of the Virgin Mary Tree Trunk. Do you think this is a sign of divinity or just a tree.
