Rihanna Did Not ‘Shade’ Beyoncé On Twitter Despite Claims, Duo Not Feuding Over ‘Formation’ Tweet

Rihanna and Beyoncé aren’t gearing up for a feud despite newly-surfaced claims that Rihanna dissed Beyoncé’s “Formation” on Twitter yesterday.

The Rihanna and Beyoncé feud rumors began on Monday after Rihanna allegedly “liked” a fan’s tweet comparing her Anti track “Desperado” to Beyoncé’s “Formation.”

In the tweet, which is accompanied by a photo of Jay Z looking rather concerned while holding a hand to his mouth, one fan explains, “The fact that ‘Desperado’ is HIGHER on the Bubbling under chart than a single performed to a global audience.”

The tweet seemingly references the fact that Rihanna’s “Desperado” is reportedly holding a higher position on Billboard’s Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart than Beyoncé’s “Formation” despite the fact that Beyoncé performed her new single during the Super Bowl 50 halftime show last month.

According to CBS News, Rihanna reportedly “threw some shade” at Beyoncé by liking the fan’s tweet, instantly igniting a heated debate between Rihanna and Beyoncé fans on Twitter, who proceeded to compare the songstress’ long lists of awards and nominations. The site further alleges that Rihanna was quick to “un-like” the tweet from her official Twitter account given the backlash surrounding the nature of the post.

Despite claims of an escalating feud between Rihanna and Beyoncé, the Shade Room reports that the circulating screengrab of Rihanna “liking” the fan’s post was, in fact, Photoshopped and that Rihanna did not take to the site to “throw shade” at Beyoncé.

In addition, one fan took to Twitter to confirm the Photoshop speculation amid the growing tension between Rihanna and Beyoncé fans on social media, telling one user, “Is photoshopped. Please, end the war,” when asked if Rihanna actually liked his tweet.

This isn’t the first time that Rihanna and Beyoncé have made headlines regarding their rumored longstanding feud. Last year, rumors suggesting that Rihanna was caught up in a “love triangle” with Beyoncé and Jay Z were debunked by author J. Randy Taraborrelli, who penned an unauthorized biography about Beyoncé’s rise to fame.

In the book, Taraborrelli argues that it was a publicist connected to Jay Z and Rihanna that ignited rumors of a relationship between the duo, arguing that the speculation ultimately drove a wedge between Beyoncé and Jay Z despite the rumors having been “total fiction,” ET Online reports.

“Beyoncé didn’t know what to make of this, and it actually ended up breaking them up for a time,” Taraborrelli explains of the Rihanna and Jay Z dating claims. “They spend maybe a year apart from each other because Beyoncé just wasn’t sure what to make of the situation with Rihanna.”

More recently, rumors of escalating tension between Beyoncé and Rihanna surfaced last year following the release of Rihanna’s single “B***h Better Have My Money,” which was falsely rumored to have been penned about Beyoncé.

One tabloid falsely claimed that Rihanna wrote “BBHMM” about Beyoncé amid her rumored contract negotiations with Jay Z’s RocNation, although sources close to Rihanna were quick to shut down the claims by arguing that it’s not likely that Jay Z would have signed off on a track aimed at dissing his wife.

Gossip Cop reached out to a source close to Rihanna regarding the Beyoncé diss track rumors who insisted that the claims were “unbelievably wrong.”
