Gwen Stefani Wants Two Female Judges On ‘The Voice,’ Does Christina Aguilera Agree?

Gwen Stefani and Christina Aguilera have been alternating seasons of The Voice for the past couple of years, but according to a new report, Gwen Stefani isn’t completely happy with the current arrangement. While Gwen Stefani will soon be returning to the NBC series’ 10th season as a mentor for Team Shelton, she’d reportedly prefer to be back as a coach alongside Aguilera and the other stars, including Blake Shelton (who Gwen Stefani’s been dating since November 2015), Pharrell Williams, and Adam Levine.

“[Gwen Stefani] thinks there should be at least two female coaches on The Voice. She’s always thought that and would be thrilled to be a coach on the show alongside Christina. She has no problem with her at all and thinks the show would benefit from having more female energy,” a source told Hollywood Life on March 1.

Since the two women began alternating seasons, rumors have continuously swirled regarding a possible feud between them, but recently, while speaking of The Voice Season 10, Aguilera seemed to shut those rumors down while talking to Hollywood Life and other reporters. Last month, Aguilera mentioned Gwen Stefani, claiming she advised her to give the boys “hell” and break the “girl curse.” She also alleged Gwen Stefani would be rooting her to gain victory during The Voice Season 10. However, Shelton wasn’t convinced and joked that he was “sure” she would.

As for a future with two female coaches, the source went on to reveal that Gwen Stefani was sure that the audience would enjoy the show change.

“[Gwen Stefani] thinks the viewers and contestants would also welcome the idea. Now the only question is if Christina wants to share the spotlight with another gorgeous woman?” the insider added.

So far, Aguilera has not commented on the idea.

Although seeing Gwen Stefani and Aguilera on the show together would certainly be a treat for fans, an executive producer on the show couldn’t offer any information on whether or not it was a possibility for the future.

“Just so you know, it is just the way it works out. There is nothing behind it, I want to be authentic with my answer and there is nothing behind it,” Mark Burnett explained. “It just works out that way. But absolutely we discuss all the time, we don’t care if on The Voice there were three women and one guy or whatever order. It is just the way it works out every year.”

At the end of the last year, a source told Radar Online that there were no plans to change the show to feature two women or to keep Gwen Stefani on the show as a fifth judge.

“They have been switching the female judges on and off for over three seasons now and it has nothing to do with how well [Gwen Stefani] is performing” or what Aguilera wants, the source explained. “It has more to do with just keeping it different by changing it up. As of right now, there are no plans to make it five judges.”

For more of Gwen Stefani and Christina Aguilera, stay tuned to The Voice Season 10, airing on Mondays and Tuesdays at 9 p.m. Currently, Aguilera is seen in a coaching role, while Gwen Stefani will be added to the show later in the season as a mentor for her boyfriend’s team, Team Blake.
