WWE News: William Regal To Appear At Two EVOLVE Shows This Month

Current WWE NXT general manager William Regal will be making two appearances for EVOLVE later this month as the promotion heads to the Northeast, the company announced in a statement.

WWN Live will present EVOLVE 56 on March 19 as the show emanates from La Boom at 56-15 Northern Blvd. in Woodside, Queens, New York. The following night, WWN Live is back with EVOLVE 57, this time debuting at the American Legion – Floyd Bennett Post 1060 at 5601 Avenue N in Brooklyn, NY. Bell time for both shows is 8 PM.

This is just the latest chapter in the apparent working relationship between the WWE and WWN Live.

NXT superstar Sami Zayn made appearances at EVOLVE 49 and EVOLVE 50 last October, per Wrestlezone. He teased a more prominent relationship between WWN Live and WWE in the future. Over the course of his two appearances, Zayn had encounters with Johnny Gargano, Ethan Page, and Timothy Thatcher.

At EVOLVE 54, Regal made an in-ring appearance with Thatcher, the current EVOLVE Heavyweight champion The five-decade veteran Regal praised Thatcher before former UFC fighter and current EVOLVE competitor Matt Riddle interrupted, per Wrestling Inc. Despite the interference, Regal claimed that watching the show that night made him “proud to be in the business.”

At the same event, NXT tag team American Alpha (Chad Gable and Jason Jordan) made an appearance, signing autographs and taking pictures with fans.

The cards for both New York shows are loaded with some of the biggest names on the independent circuit today. Thatcher will be a busy man that weekend as he will surely be defending his championship on more than one occasion.

Via WWN Alerts, here are the cards for both shows.

WWN Live and EVOLVE are not only partnering with WWE but also with Tier 1 Wrestling, a budding promotion in NYC. Before EVOLVE 57 takes place in Brooklyn, Tier 1 Wrestling will present March To Victory at 4 PM. This will be the company’s fourth show since their making their debut last July.

March To Victory will be a stacked show in its own right, featuring some unique first-time matchups. WWE NXT superstar and independent wrestling mainstay Tommaso Ciampa will wrestle Thatcher. If Ciampa wins, he will receive a future opportunity for the EVOLVE championship.

“Unbreakable” Michael Elgin was Thatcher’s original opponent but he signed a deal with New Japan Pro Wrestling recently. A commitment with NJPW pulled him from the show.

Tier 1 Wrestling champion Rude Boy Riley will defend his championship against former TNA superstar “The Premiere Athlete” Tony Nese. Riley has been making a huge name for himself on the NYC independents and the much talked about Nese will present a tough challenge for him.

This event will also be available on iPPV via WWN Live for the first time. Details on exclusive offers available to fans who want to purchase tickets or the iPPV are available at this link.

“We’re incredibly excited to be bringing this show to the world via WWNLive.com,” said Tier 1 Wrestling promoter Dennis Long in a statement. “We have a great list of talent that’s hell-bent on breaking out and flipping the business on its ear, so it’s definitely gonna be an exciting night.”

With three shows in two nights, New York City will have a busy weekend of wrestling action in just under three weeks.
