Jennifer Garner Finds Faith, Inspiration In An Unlikely Place

Imagine having the lovely and talented actress Jennifer Garner play you in a movie. This wonderful stroke of luck must have seemed surreal to Christy Beam, the subject of Jennifer Garner’s most recent role, in the upcoming film Miracles From Heaven, which is slated to hit theaters in the middle of March.

Luck had nothing to do with it, though. It seems God had plans for Jennifer Garner, and the Beam family played a very important role in Jennifer’s life.

Though Jennifer Garner is a Christian and grew up attending church regularly, Garner said in an interview with Good Morning Texas that when she moved to Los Angeles, that part of her life went on the back burner, reports Christian Today.

“When I did move to L.A., it wasn’t something that was just part of the culture there in the same way, at least in my life. But it didn’t mean that I lost who I was.”

When Jennifer Garner met Christy Beam and her daughter, Anna, she was so moved by their faith that she was inspired to return to church and become more vocal about her faith. In hindsight, one can see how God worked through the Beam family to reach out to Jennifer Garner. While it may have seemed to be a great gift to Christy to be portrayed by such a renowned actress, Jennifer Garner feels she is the one who received a gift, through the inspiration of the Beam family’s faith.

“There was something about doing this film and talking to my kids about it and realising that they were looking for the structure of church every Sunday. So it was a great gift of this film that it took us back to finding our local Methodist church and going every Sunday. It’s really sweet.”

The Miracles From Heaven movie is based on the best-selling book of the same name. This is a true story of an amazing miracle that took place in the life of Christy’s daughter, Anna. The little girl suffered from pseudo-obstruction motility disorder, which resulted in the inability to eat, leaving her dependent on a feeding tube, reports the Christian Post.

Anna took a devastating fall which nearly claimed her life. During her recovery, she says she went to Heaven and met Jesus. Not only did Anna miraculously make a full recovery from the fall, but she was cured of the disease she had suffered from for so long.

Jennifer Garner feels a strong connection to this family, and credits the inspiration of their faith in boosting her own.

“I fell so in love with this family, I fell so in love with their love for each other. I fell so in love with their faith. It was a transformative experience to play this woman right here, she made me stronger.

“I will say that being around this community, and while I’ve always gone to church in West Virginia, that when I got back to Los Angeles, I was talking to my kids about the movie and they said, ‘Mom you don’t take us to church,’ and we went that Sunday, and they went today without me. That decision was a direct gift from this movie and for that I’m very grateful.”

Kudos to the Beam family for sharing their inspiring story of faith, and to Jennifer Garner for sharing hers as well. Miracles From Heaven, starring Jennifer Garner, will be out in theaters on March 16.
